🦋 Fluttering into Learning! 🦋 Our second graders at Bowman Primary School had an incredible hands-on science experience this week learning all about Monarch Butterflies! Students got up close and personal with the butterfly life cycle, using magnifying glasses to inspect caterpillars, observing chrysalises closely, and watching fully emerged Monarchs in their habitats.

🎨 Spotlight on Fundamentals of Art at Lebanon High School! 🖌️✨

Students in Ms. Lucy Osborne and Mrs. Kaci Mace’s Fundamentals of Art class at Lebanon High School are diving headfirst into color, foundational techniques, and creative expression as they master blending and layering paint!

The teachers do an incredible job adapting each lesson so that art is accessible, meaningful, and engaging for every student. From exploring vivid color palettes to taking turns washing brushes at the sink, our artists are learning and creating with confidence!

A huge shoutout to our incredible paraprofessionals - Allie Hines, Amanda Morbach, Evelyn Colon, Allie Russel, and Elesia Guerra - for their dedicated, hands-on support in making the art classroom a place where every student can thrive and express themselves. 👏

It’s Throwback Thursday! 📜✨

Each Thursday, we look back through the pages of Lebanon history with a feature from a vintage local yearbook, whether it’s the Trilobite (Lebanon High School’s yearbook) or a treasure from one of our elementary schools or the junior high.

Today’s feature comes from the 1955 Trilobite, capturing the incredible energy and community pride of the Class of ’55!

The page reads:

"The spirited cheer that echoed through the crisp fall air as the Lebanon Warriors ran on the football field for the opening game; the applause that thundered through the auditorium as the curtain fell on the final performance of the Junior Class Play; the sincere wish of the student body to help those less fortunate than themselves by supporting 'Mickey'; the enthusiasm of the High School Chorus at District Contest; the final senior assembly. All these will linger in our memories and we shall remember always THE SPIRIT OF '55."

Decades later, that same Warrior spirit, pride, and tradition continue to make Lebanon a special place to learn and grow!

What’s been happening in fourth grade at Donovan Elementary? Well, a lot! ✏️📚

In Mrs. Herrmann’s ELA class, students practiced their vocabulary words in a fun, interactive way! They took turns drawing words from a bag and giving the correct definition. If they answered correctly, they kept the card, but drawing a "popcorn" slip meant losing a turn! It was a great way to review key terms, practice speaking skills, and add a little friendly excitement to learning. 🍿

In Ms. Hawley’s math and science classroom, it was a busy week of exploring, collaborating, and hands-on learning. For science, students launched into our new Gizmos program to interact with forest ecosystems and investigate how environments change over time. In math, small groups identified factor pairs and created colorful reference cards to display, turning the classroom walls into a student-built math resource! 🌲🔢

Meanwhile, in Miss McVey’s class, students used "Painted Essay" strategies to analyze and summarize poetry while uncovering the deeper themes and messages authors share through their words. 💡

Our fourth graders are already hard at work, thinking critically and supporting one another every step of the way! ✨

At 1N5, su***de prevention is at the heart of what we do. Every day, we work to give young people and the adults who support them the education, resources, and tools to recognize when someone may be struggling and know how to help.

This month, we’re raising awareness, sharing resources, and creating more opportunities to talk openly about mental health—because every conversation helps break down stigma and makes it easier for someone to reach out for support.

Hands-on history in action! 🏛️🇬🇷 Our 7th-grade World History students at Lebanon Junior High School transformed into ancient geographers today, using Play-Doh to build and model the rugged terrain of Ancient Greece!

By sculpting mountains, coastline waters, olive groves, and vineyards, they mapped out 4 iconic city-states and discovered how geography directly shaped early civilization:

- Protected yet Isolated: Students learned that towering mountains offered natural defense from invaders, but also isolated city-states, leading each to develop its own distinct culture and government.

- The 80/20 Rule: With 80% of the land covered in mountains, only 20% was farmable! Students modeled how Greeks adapted by farming grapes and olives, which thrived in rocky soil thanks to their shallow root systems.

- Mastering the Seas: Living on a "peninsula of peninsulas," Ancient Greeks turned to the Mediterranean Sea to navigate, trade local goods for essential resources like wheat, and connect with neighboring cultures.

Seeing complex historical concepts come to life through creative, interactive learning is what it's all about! 📜✨

Ms. Karen and Mrs. Sergent’s classes at Berry Intermediate teamed up for their very first Modified PE session! Students had a wonderful time staying active, practicing movement skills on scooter boards, and socializing with peers.

This powerful collaboration between our Occupational Therapy (OT), Physical Therapy (PT), Speech-Language Pathology (SLP), and PE (Physical Education) teams shows what happens when a caring school community comes together to create inclusive learning opportunities for every student!

Check out these incredible, vibrant creations from our Lebanon Junior High School art students! Inspired by contemporary artist Jen Stark, students painted individual "drip" designs that were pieced together into bright, collaborative installations.

From hallway murals and bulletin boards to the main office windows, these colorful works of art are bringing continuous color and energy to the entire building!
