What an incredible National Night Out 2026!

Thank you to everyone who came out to the Countryside YMCA and helped make this year's event such a tremendous success.

What an unforgettable week at the Countryside YMCA Lebanon Police Department Junior Police Academy!

For five action-packed days, our Cadets stepped into the world of public safety, learning what it takes to serve and protect a community. They dusted for fingerprints, marched in formation, tackled obstacle courses, explored bomb squad operations, learned lifesaving Stop the Bleed skills, experienced traffic safety training with "Impaired Driving Goggles," rode the trails at Lebanon's Bike Park, and got an up-close look at police, fire, EMS, and public works vehicles, including a visit from Premier Health's CareFlight helicopter.

Along the way, they built confidence, strengthened teamwork, challenged themselves, and made new friendships while gaining a greater appreciation for the many professionals who work together to keep our community safe.

None of this would have been possible without the incredible support of our instructors, partner agencies, volunteers, and community members who generously shared their time, knowledge, and passion throughout the week. Your dedication made a lasting impact on every Cadet.

Thank you to the Cadets for bringing your enthusiasm, curiosity, positive attitudes, and willingness to learn each day. You represented yourselves, your families, and our community exceptionally well.

We are proud of each and every one of you, and we can't wait to see what the future holds. We hope to see you back at Cadet Camp next year!

Congratulations to Sergeant David Wilson on successfully completing the Police Executive Leadership College (PELC)!

PELC is an intensive three-week leadership development program conducted over the course of three months, equipping participants with the necessary skills, and leadership tools to better serve their agency and community.

LPD Junior Police Academy – Final Day Recap

The final day of the Countryside YMCA Junior Police Academy was filled with hands-on experiences, learning opportunities, and a few special treats to celebrate a successful week!

Cadets started the day with a "Touch-a-Truck" event, where they explored vehicles and equipment from the City’s Electric Department, Wastewater Department, Public Works Department, Ohio State Highway Patrol, Case Towing, and the Lebanon Fire Department. Cadets had the opportunity to learn about the important services each organization provides and get an up-close look at the specialized vehicles used to serve our community.

Next, Cadets visited the Lebanon Division of Fire, where they enjoyed pizza and received basic fire safety and EMS education from Lebanon's firefighters and paramedics. They toured the fire station and learned about the tools, equipment, and apparatus firefighters use every day to protect the community.

The afternoon brought Cadets to the Lebanon Police Department for a behind-the-scenes look at local law enforcement operations. Cadets toured the Communications Center and learned when to call 911, what information dispatchers need during an emergency, and how calls for help are handled. They also visited areas where officers report for duty, prepare for their shifts, and complete reports. Throughout the tour, Cadets asked great questions about becoming a police officer and the many responsibilities involved in serving the community.

One of the highlights of the day was the opportunity to climb inside an armored SWAT vehicle and experience what it's like to look out from the top turret used by tactical teams during critical incidents.

To cap off an incredible week, the Cadets made one final stop at Whit's Frozen Custard for a well-earned treat and a chance to celebrate their accomplishments.
