2026 Russell County 4‑H Camp Update! 🍀

We haven’t posted about camp in a little while, so here’s a quick update for our 4‑H families — we still have a few limited spots available, but they’re filling fast.

Current Camper Availability- 10 Girl Camper Spots & 3 Boy Camper Spots

We’ve had 6 new campers sign up just this week, even without recent advertising, so we expect these final spots to go quickly.

If your child wants to join us for a week of friends, fun, and hands‑on 4‑H adventures, now is the perfect time to get registered.

A Few Spots Left for Strawberry Jam! 🍓🍀
We’re kicking off our Young Homesteaders Series with a hands‑on Strawberry Freezer Jam class — the sweetest way to start summer and celebrate fresh strawberry season.

Youth ages 5–18 will:
• Make their own batch of freezer jam
• Learn simple food preservation skills
• Take home their very own jar of jam to enjoy

📅 June 1st
⏰ 2:30–4:00 PM
📍 Russell County Extension Office
💲 $10 per participant

That’s a wrap on our Russell County 4-H Afterschool Agriculture Series for the school year! 🌱

Over the past two weeks, we’ve had a wonderful time visiting our schools and learning all about seeds and plant growth. Students enjoyed getting their hands dirty while starting their very own seeds to take home and care for. 🌻🪴

Thank you to all of our students, teachers, and schools for another fun year of Afterschool Agriculture. We’ve loved learning and growing together and can’t wait for more agricultural adventures next year! 💚🐝🚜

Our “In A Bag: Bread” series was a huge success! 🍞🧑‍🍳

Earlier this month, we teamed up with fellow 4-H Agents from across Virginia to bring this fun hands-on experience to youth right at home. Participants learned the basics of bread making while mixing, kneading, and baking their own delicious creations!

Check out some of the fun these kiddos had baking bread at home. We loved seeing everyone’s hard work and tasty results! 🥖✨
