Round Valley Recreation Area was once a round valley framed by the horseshoe shaped Cushetunk Mountain. In 1970 the valley was filled with water from the nearby South Branch Raritan River and that is how Round Valley became New Jersey's third largest reservoir and an oasis for recreation and relaxation. Experienced wilderness campers can enjoy a rugged 3-6 mile hike over mountain terrain before ha

ving the opportunity to relax and toast marshmallows (fire danger permitting). Picnickers and summertime visitors can enjoy swimming at the lifeguarded beach when it is open. And trail users of all kinds are welcome to visit the park in every season for hiking, mountain biking, cross country skiing, fishing and more!

☀️ HAPPY, HAPPY, VERY HAPPY SUMMER!!! Round Valley is so excited to celebrate summer with our visitors!

⛱️ Round Valley is open year round, but June 21st marks an exciting day… the first day of summer! We here at Round Valley are so excited for what this season holds for the park.

🏊 Swimming has just opened for the season, and is open Wednesday through Sunday from 10am to 5:30pm.

🧺 Our picnic and grill areas are wonderfully warm and perfect for a picnic, our hiking trails are shaded and serene, and our campgrounds missed you most of all!

🤗 Whether you’re here for picnicking, swimming, camping, or hiking, Round Valley welcomes you! Happy summer!

☀️HAPPY SUMMER ROUND VALLEY! We are thrilled to announce that our swimming area is now open for the summer! Swimming will be open Wednesday through Sunday from 10am to 5:30pm! As a reminder, there is never any swimming on Mondays and Tuesdays!

🏊Swimming must be done on the lifeguarded beach. Regular admission fees will apply 🤗 please remember that sometimes our park fills to capacity on weekends, so it is better to arrive early in the day.

☺️We can’t wait to see you all at Round Valley! We hope your summer goes swimmingly!!!

Fun fact: the park staff here at Round Valley Recreation Area loves the park as much as you do! We work hard to keep Round Valley clean, litter free, and beautifully maintained so that visitors like you can enjoy our park!

Want to help? Here’s some ways that YOU can help keep the park clean! 🧼 ✨

🗑️ All trash at Round Valley is carry in carry out! Make sure you bring your own garbage bags for your picnics! Dumpsters may be available in select areas.

🐕 There’s no p**p fairy! That means that it is up to you to clean up after your own dog! Please bring waste bags and make sure you and your pup are leaving the trail as clean as you found it!

🦸‍♀️🦸‍♂️🦸 Did you know that you can be a park hero? While we are strict with our carry in carry out policies, we can’t catch every litterbug! Luckily, you can save the day by helping us pick up small trash around the park, and alerting us to larger issues! The park says thank you!

P.S. While this video shows our office staff, we’d also love to send a special thanks to our maintenance team for all of the hard work they do cleaning up the park, our visitor service assistants for teaching our visitors the best ways to keep the park tidy, and to our lifeguards for helping keep the beach spotless!

As a reminder, everyone is welcome to come enjoy Round Valley in their kayaks too! Just make sure you wear your life jacket, launch from the public boat launch, and purchase a boat ramp permit or a fishing license in advance. 😊

It’s everyone’s favorite time of the season; the cover photo contest!
🤗We at Round Valley Recreation Area enjoy nothing more than seeing our wonderful visitors enjoying our park— in person, but in photos too! While we usually post our own pictures of the park, we love giving you all a chance to have your photos featured on our facebook!
💬Leave a comment below with your favorite summer photo that you took at Round Valley Recreation Area. From there, we'll conduct a public vote to select the winner. The winning picture will be featured as the seasonal cover photo on our page— how exciting!
📸 HOW TO ENTER THE PHOTO CONTEST:
Comment with your photo by midnight on Thursday, June 4th. Voting will take place over the following weekend, and our winner will be announced to the page on Monday, June 8th’
1️⃣Each visitor may have one photo entered into the contest. Can’t choose just one? You’re welcome to post a few, and park staff will just conduct a mini vote to select one to be entered in the contest!
☀️Photos must be summer themed and taken at Round Valley Recreation Area. Landscape photos, pet portraits*, and pictures of summer themes like the sandy beach, hiking, camping, picnics, and BBQs are all welcome~ let your creativity shine as bright as the summer sun!
P.S. We welcome you to visit the park this weekend!
Just be reminded that swimming is not yet open for the season! You are welcome to come hike, picnic, or BBQ though!

Hello from rainy Round Valley! Today marks the first day of the summer season, which means that through labor day, our staff is eagerly waiting to meet you at the toll booth! We’ve looked forward to seeing you all again all winter, and we can’t wait to find what this season holds for the park.
As always, the park is the perfect summer spot for camping, hiking, biking, picnicing and more. Even more exciting, our lifeguarded swimming beach should open sometime in mid June— just in time for when summer gets HOT!
Now, meet a few of our office staff members, here to warm up the tollbooth for the season and refresh you on some rules. As always, be sure to stop at toll the to pay the fee, get directions or a dog bone, and meet some of our friendly staff! We hope you stop in to say hi soon! Round Valley has missed you!
