Compeer of Lebanon County

Compeer of Lebanon County We provide support to people living with mental health challenges through friendship matches, social events, trainings, and community education.

Compeer friendship matches enhance and support wellness and a sense of belonging within our community. Compeer exists for the purpose of matching caring adults in one-to-one supportive friendships with people of the same gender who are recovering from a mental illness. Compeer provides comprehensive training, helps with selecting a friendship connection and offers ongoing support every step of th

e way. "If you care, you qualify!"

Compeer of Lebanon County first opened its doors in May 1999; today it provides 4 main programs to the citizens of Lebanon County. They include the main Compeer friendship program; CompeerCorps, which is specific to military veterans; the youth mentoring program; and support group services. In addition, Compeer offers free social events that clients and volunteers can attend each month, as well as a monthly veteran breakfast at Heisey’s Diner that is free to all veterans! Compeer of Lebanon County is dedicated to helping its clients in Lebanon County on their journey to mental health recovery through friendship, support, and community! Mental Wellness Starts with Friendship!

Reach out to a dear friend, someone you know, or a complete stranger. We never know the story that someone is carrying.

September is Su***de Prevention Month. 💜

It’s a time to remind ourselves that conversations matter, checking in matters, and letting someone know they are not alone can make a difference.

You never know what someone is carrying behind the smile you see.

💜 Ask how someone is really doing.
💜 Listen without judgment.
💜 Reach out to someone who may be struggling.
💜 Take every mention of su***de seriously.

A conversation can be the beginning of hope.

This month—and every month—let’s look out for one another and remind the people around us: You are not alone.

For most of my life I thought vulnerability meant weakness.
That admitting you were struggling meant you were failing in some way.
Especially as a man.
Especially as an athlete.
But I see it very differently now.
Talking honestly about how you feel takes courage.
Facing your own struggles takes courage.
Allowing other people to see the parts of you that aren’t perfect takes courage.
That’s not weakness.
That’s strength. 🧡

August’s Coffee & Camaraderie offered many veterans a way to connect and with one another over breakfast at Heisey’s Dinner. Special thanks to the Kern family for their sponsorship of August’s C&C. Also thanks to Red Dragon for sharing information about their local veterans’ group. If you would like more information about CompeerCORPS, please contact Julie or Shannon at 717-272-8317. 🇺🇸❤️🇺🇸
