Strong schools, supported teachers and career-connected learning all play a role in preparing the next generation of employees, entrepreneurs and community leaders.

Here’s to a safe, successful school year for students, families and educators across our region.

The project received support through local tax incentives and an Ohio Job Creation Tax Credit.

International investment can generate significant local opportunities, but communities must also be prepared with available sites, skilled workers, infrastructure and strong partnerships.

Economic development announcements are often the final chapter of years of preparation that happened behind the scenes.

Ohio businesses and research organizations have two significant funding opportunities to review.

The Advanced Energy Fund is offering awards for projects designed to reduce energy use and associated costs. Applications are due August 31.
Ohio Third Frontier’s Technology Validation and Start-up Fund supports research commercialization and technology-focused startups. That application deadline is August 6.

Funding programs move quickly. Businesses should maintain a list of planned investments so they can respond when the right opportunity opens.

Parents should get excited.
Retailers should get ready.

Ohio’s 2026 sales-tax holiday will take place August 7 through August 9.
The holiday applies to qualifying clothing priced at $75 or less per item, school supplies priced at $20 or less and instructional materials priced at $20 or less.

Retailers should make sure their point-of-sale systems are prepared to apply the exemption correctly.
For local stores, the weekend also provides an opportunity to promote back-to-school products and remind customers that shopping locally supports jobs and investment within the community.
