Lebanon Optimist Club

Lebanon Optimist Club The Lebanon Optimist Club was chartered in July 1994. Optimist Clubs conduct positive service projects aimed at providing a helping hand to youth.

Our members come from every walk of life with the common goal of improving the lives of the youth in our community. By believing in young people and empowering them to be the best they can be, Optimist volunteers continually make their community a better place to live. There are 105,000 individual members who belong to more than 3,200 autonomous clubs. Optimists conduct 65,000 service projects eac

h year, serving six million young people. Optimists also invest $78 million annually in improving their communities. The Optimist Creed

We have a dinner meeting this Monday night at 6:00pm at Acapulco in the private dining room. Our speaker will be Marie Canaday. She represents Warren County Community Services and will be sharing with us about their 60th anniversary and the work they are doing to buy a bus/van to transport at-risk children to their Trauma Informed Care Program. (TIP) Members will remember we granted $12,000 a few years ago for their teachers to be trained in this specialized program for highly at-risk children who have suffered trauma. Lebanon Optimist Club had a packed meeting last night! Members and guests got an update from Jennifer on Wren Works, a project our financial investment helped launch a year ago. We were excited to hear Jennifer's vision to get 150 books a month into the hands of children whose families visit our Lebanon Food Pantry has far exceeded goals and is branching out in lots of new directions.

By partnering with us for clean-up adter our Lebanon Blues Festival , Lebanon Band Parents earned $1000 which we matched with a $1000 donation. This has been a wonderful partnership for several years. It's always great to hear what the band program is doing to keep music alive in our Lebanon Schools.

Our Blues Festival Guitar Raffle raised $2540 which we donated to the Huss Family to help pay for an intensive physical therapy program in Texas for their children, Henry and Hudson who are diagnosed with cerebral palsy. The cost of the program is $25,000 and it is not covered by insurance. We presented their check and shared a little time with their family.

In a bit of a twist for us, the Lebanon Band Parents Association presented our club a plaque honoring our Platinum Sponsorship of the Lebanon Band program. We are grateful.

Lebanon Optimist Club volunteers served our neighbors this evening at the Lebanon Food Pantry. For those who didn't know, the food pantry is open 6-8pm on the first Monday of each month in addition to their MWF 9 til noon and Wednesday evening 6-8. Anyone in need can receive food or clothing during these hours and donors can drop off food or clothing during these hours.

If you subscribe to our Lebanon Avenue of Flags program, you helped make this happen. Avenue of Flags not only gives youth organizations opportunities to earn money for their programs by adopting a flag route, but the portion our Lebanon Optimist Club retains funds four scholarships for Lebanon High School students who are pursuing further education. This year we were able to offer a renewable award. These recipients can reapply for an additional $1000 for their 2nd year of college. We thank all who support this program.

Lebanon Optimist Club member and Avenue of Flags Coordinator, Scott Webb, tonight awarded $2000 to each of these LHS seniors. Congratulations!
