Good evening! Interesting developments are happening in trying to save this beautiful building from destruction! In the next few weeks, there is potential to have a meeting with a Duke representative at the Greentree! It would be great if anyone who wants to see this building preserved could make a showing of support at this meeting, once I know when it is to be! I will post here when I do know more details. Feel free to acknowledge your interest on this post as well!!!

So very sad to drive by the Greentree Tavern (or what once was The Greentree Tavern) today. The doors and windows are all boarded up, there is so much growth of the vegetation around it, it would take a bush hog to cut a path to the doors, and ivy is growing up the side of it. I'm afraid that plants will take it over very soon and start tearing the building down.... devastating.

I have spoken with someone from Duke energy about the property and their plans for it. Unfortunately, my vision for it will not work with that plan, so I have now finally come to the painful conclusion that the Greentree tavern that I hoped to restore will not be. Having said that, that does not mean that the building itself is doomed. Duke plans to use most all of the property except for the parcel the building itself sits on, and will be looking in to selling that piece off in the future probably. SO, if you or anyone you know have a vision for something like a restaurant, bar, retail space, office, etc. that would work there, PLEASE consider this site. It deserves to stay...

For anyone who is interested, Duke Energy purchased this property. To the best of my knowledge, they plan to only use part of the land, so maybe there is still some hope for my plan? I am trying to contact the right people at Duke to discuss, but so far no luck. If anyone has any ideas, please PM me and let's see what we can do!

Lots and lots and lots of pictures of an amazing renovation! Hoping this comes to fruition for the Greentree by it's new owners.

Well folks, the place has been sold to someone else. Not sure about any of the details, but I am still going to continue to watch and see what happens with this beautiful place. Praying that the new owners keep the building intact and that it gets to stay a part of our local history for years to come! I wish them all the best! The goal of all of this was to save the building, and as long as that is being done, even though it wasn't me or my vision for it, I am happy!

Hi everyone! Currently I am working on setting up a meeting with the small business administration to get some help on getting together a business plan. I need to get investors, and in order to do that, I need an organized plan that will show cost vs. profit, all the ideas I have to make this property a viable business, and how to utilize the space to get the most out of it while still maintaining the historic integrity of the building. (Because that's what it's all about after all, saving this building!!) If anyone has any experience in this manner, please let me know! And if anyone has any contemplations about possibly becoming an angel investor in this property, let's talk!! If you know anyone else who might be interested, let's talk!! It's going to take a village if this is going to be able to happen, and networking can be invaluable!! Prayers please!!
