The development of a “native plant” garden has commenced, targeting the elongated dirt strip situated between the concrete pads formerly occupied by the mobile home. A member of our team is overseeing this initiative, which entails laying down cardboard to suppress existing vegetation, followed by a substantial layer of composted garden soil. Individuals interested in contributing to this endeavor are invited to contact us via email or pm.

HCNC provided the venue last Sunday for a picnic for international high school students and their host families. Organized by one of our members, the group included students from Austria, Germany, Japan, Italy, Spain, and Sweden.
The weather was perfect and a good time was had by all.

We're just one day away from ORF's presentation on freshwater mussels and the role they play in the ecosystem of the Ohio River watershed at the Hob Nature Center! Our Education Programs Manager, Melinda Voss, will be giving the presentation and we can't wait to see you all there. The Center is located in Lebanon, OH, and the event runs from 9am to 12pm. Saturday’s nature presentation at hcnc, was filled with incredible information on fresh water mussels, herpetofauna with a focus on turtles, and relationships between entities in nature.

Thank you so much John Goll, Melinda Voss and Marne Titchnell! for sharing your exhaustive knowledge and enthusiasm for the natural world.

It is especially fun to learn about the things local to us that we can actually encounter.
