Our Honor Guard was asked to present the colors before last night and tonight’s race at Nashville Superspeedway! 🇺🇸🏁

While the racing is underway, Wilson County EMA has multiple ambulances and personnel on site throughout the weekend working alongside our public safety partners to help keep race fans safe.

If you’re headed to the track, have a great time, stay hydrated, and stay safe!

You may be receiving something in the mail soon asking for donations to the National Fire Safety Council. This nonprofit program helps provide important fire safety education materials that are distributed to all elementary schools in our community.

These materials play a vital role in teaching students about fire prevention, smoke alarms, home escape planning, and what to do in an emergency. Early education like this helps build lifelong safety habits and helps ensure our children are better prepared and safer at home and school.

We would like to sincerely thank everyone who has donated in the past, as well as those who have already contributed this year. Your continued support directly helps make sure these important educational resources reach every elementary school in our area.

If you choose to donate online, you will be asked for our program number: TN 95 F2. You can also donate by following the link provided or scanning the QR code. https://donate.nfsc.org/

Thank you for helping us support fire safety education for the children in our community.

During EMS Week, we pause on EMS Remembrance Day to honor those who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to their community.

Today, we remember Chief Wendell Organ, who tragically lost his life in the line of duty in 1982 while fighting the fire at the West Side Hotel. Chief Organ served our community with courage, and his legacy continues to shape our department today.

Appointed Director of Civil Defense in 1970, Chief Organ devoted his life to protecting and serving others. In 2001, the fire bay at our original Station 1, now Headquarters, was dedicated in his honor as a lasting tribute to his service and sacrifice.

His name also lives on through the Organ Award, presented to local community members and volunteer organizations who step up to help neighbors during disasters and times of need , reflecting the same spirit of selflessness Chief Organ embodied.

We will never forget his sacrifice, his leadership, and his commitment to this community.

During EMS Week, we recognize not only the crews serving today, but also the generations before them who helped build EMS into what it is now.

From handwritten reports and basic ambulances to advanced lifesaving equipment and modern medicine, EMS has changed tremendously over the years.

But one thing has stayed the same, the dedication and passion of serving others.

Thank you to every AEMT, Paramedic, Dispatcher, Firefighter, Supervisor, and retiree who has answered the call in Wilson County through the years.

From Wilson County Civil Defense to Wilson County Emergency Management Agency. Different generations. Same mission.

EMS Week continued! Tuesday is EMS Safety Day! As we head into summer break, pools are opening and more families are heading to the lakes and rivers. A little preparation and awareness can go a long way in keeping everyone safe this summer.

💦 Water Safety Tips:
• Always keep a close eye on children around water. Drowning can happen quickly and silently
• Bright colored swimsuits and swim trunks are easier to spot underwater than blue or dark colors
• Wear a properly fitted life jacket anytime you are boating or out on the lake
• Never swim alone
• Put phones away and stay focused when supervising children in or near water
• Learn CPR. Early CPR can save a life before help arrives
• Avoid alcohol while operating boats or supervising swimmers

☀️ Heat Safety Tips:
• Drink plenty of water throughout the day
• Take frequent breaks if working or playing outside
• Never leave children or pets in vehicles. Temperatures rise dangerously fast
• Wear lightweight, light-colored clothing when outdoors
• Know the signs of heat exhaustion and heat stroke

As always, we want to thank the EMS professionals who answer the call day and night, rain or shine, holidays and weekends. EMS is always there for the community.

Thank you for your dedication, compassion, and service during EMS Week and every week!

Today we recognize EMS Education Day and the dedication our Paramedics and AEMTs put into continuing their education.

State requirements mandate that Paramedics and AEMTs complete anywhere from 25–32 hours of continuing education every two years to maintain certification. Our personnel consistently go far beyond those minimums through ongoing in-service training, advanced certifications, scenario-based learning, and additional specialty education throughout the year.

EMS is an ever-evolving field, and our crews are committed to staying current on the latest medical practices, life-saving techniques, and patient care standards so they can provide the highest level of service to our community. From classroom instruction to hands-on training exercises, their dedication to professional growth directly impacts the quality of care delivered every day.

We are proud of the commitment our EMS professionals show not only to their patients, but also to their own development and excellence in emergency medicine. Thank you to all EMS educators, instructors, field training officers, and providers who make lifelong learning a priority.

EMS Week is May 17–23, 2026, and this year’s theme is “Improving Outcomes Together.”
This week is about recognizing the EMS professionals who show up every day to care for others in some of life’s hardest moments. Improving outcomes takes all of us working together, dispatchers, AEMTs, paramedics, firefighters, and the communities we serve.

Thank you to everyone who answers the call and makes a difference every day.

Follow along this week as we recognize the people behind EMS and celebrate the work being done to improve outcomes together.
