08/13/2026

On 08/12/2026 at approximately 2:27pm, Lebanon Police Officers and Lebanon Fire
Department were dispatched to a crash with entrapment in the area of the 137mm of I-65
northbound. Responding Officers were informed the crash involved a passenger vehicle and a
semi.

Upon arrival, Officers were told the driver of the vehicle was stuck inside and was
unresponsive. Lebanon Fire was able to extricate the driver, and the driver was taken to an
Indianapolis-area hospital in critical condition. The semi driver was uninjured. The semi driver
was identified as 70-year-old Ephriam Spraggins out of Seagoville, TX.

Due to the severity of the crash and the injuries, the CRASH Team was requested to
investigate. Preliminary investigation of the crash shows it was caused by weather conditions.
The crash is still under investigation.

🚧TRAFFIC ALERT FROM INDOT🚧

⚠️🦺 CONSTRUCTION ALERT: A traffic pattern change will go into effect today, August 12, moving vehicles onto newly constructed pavement for the State Road 32 realignment as the next phase of the project begins.

For driver safety, no left turns will be allowed from westbound traffic onto County Road 50 N. because of a change in elevation. 🚫⛔

Drivers are asked to use C.R. 500 W. instead. Signage and message boards will be in place to alert the public of the changes.

Sunday night at approximately 9:28 p.m., Lebanon Police Department, Lebanon Fire Department, and Boone County EMS were dispatched to the 900 block of Beverly Drive in Lebanon for a reported structure collapse.

Upon arrival, officers and emergency personnel discovered that a vehicle had driven completely through the residence. The vehicle and driver were located in the vacant lot next to the home, where the vehicle had become stuck on a dirt mound.

The residence was occupied by two people and two dogs at the time of the incident. One occupant was transported to St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis with injuries. One of the dogs was also injured and was transported by Lebanon Fire Department Battalion 201 to a 24-hour emergency veterinary clinic for life-saving treatment.

The incident remains under investigation. At this time we have no reason to believe this was a criminal act. Additional information will be released as it becomes available.

🚍📚 School Is Back in Session! 📚🚍
As students head back to school, the Lebanon Police Department would like to remind everyone to slow down, stay alert, and help keep our children safe.

Each morning and afternoon, school buses will be stopping throughout our community to pick up and drop off students. Please remember:
🛑 Stop for school buses when the stop arm is extended and the red lights are flashing. It’s the law—and it saves lives.
👀 Watch for children who may unexpectedly cross the street to board or exit the bus.
🎒 Be extra patient with our youngest students. Many kindergarteners are riding a school bus for the very first time. They may be excited, distracted, or unfamiliar with traffic and bus safety.
🚸 Slow down in school zones and obey the posted speed limits.
📵 Put the phone away. A few seconds of distraction can have life-changing consequences.
🚗 Leave a little earlier if possible. Giving yourself extra time can help reduce the temptation to speed or make unsafe driving decisions.

Our officers will be out during the first weeks of school to help ensure a safe start to the school year. Together, we can make sure every student arrives safely at school and returns home to their families.

🚧Traffic Update🚧

Road closure to affect U.S. 52 near I-65

Road closure starts on or about July 20th. Please use caution.

⚠️ INDOT Official Detour: U.S. 52 to S.R. 47 to I-65 back to U.S. 52 and vice versa

🔄 REMINDER🔄

U.S. 52 will close near Lebanon to tie it into the new diverging diamond interchange with I-65, beginning on or after tomorrow, July 20. ❌⛔️🔷

Construction is anticipated to last until November, weather-permitting. 📅
