Family Science & Engineering Night last week was a blast! On Jan. 23, our families explored, built, tested, and discovered together thanks to Oregon State University Engineering students and faculty who joined us. They brought some fun hands-on science and engineering activities that made learning come alive for our students. We enjoyed seeing families and students learning side-by-side and making memories together.

The Pioneer staff enjoyed a wonderful holiday gathering out in our community last week -- an opportunity to strengthen the connections that make our school family special. Community Connections is one of our district's five Focus Areas, and taking time to come together outside the school walls reminded us how important those relationships truly are.

From all of us at Pioneer, we wish you and your loved ones a warm, joyful holiday season! We will see students back in school on Monday, January 5, 2026!

Congratulations to Mrs. Mynar for earning the Apple Award! 🍎

Today we are proud to recognize Kimberly Mynar, a fifth-grade teacher at Pioneer School, as an Educators Apple Award recipient! 🍎

Mrs. Mynar received multiple nominations for the award and is described as devoted, encouraging, and always going above and beyond for her students. As a teacher and AVID mentor, she helps students build leadership skills, set goals, gain confidence, and shine -- whether that's through reading morning announcements, presenting at assemblies, or supporting peers. One nomination reads, "Kimberly goes above and beyond every day to ensure her students are thriving and well-prepared for success as they head to middle school." Thank you, Mrs. Mynar, for the incredible impact you make in your school community every day.

All Apple Award winners receive a framed certificate, a dinner gift card to 1847 Bar & Grill, a $100 VISA gift card from Adam Kirkpatrick Family Dentistry and an engraved apple for their desk. Happy Fry-day from our staff! Nothing like a French fries-and-ketchup duo to bring a little fun to the building. Thanks to Instructional Assistant Emily Carlile and School Counselor Scot Potter for keeping this Friday -- or Fry-day -- as bright and cheerful as they are. 🍟🍅

Today, Principal Savedra and staff teamed up with Nutrition Services, rolling up their sleeves to serve a special Thanksgiving turkey lunch to our students! 🦃 This annual tradition is one of our favorites -- a chance for students to enjoy a special holiday meal and for our team to share in the spirit of gratitude. Students were served turkey, mashed potatoes and gravy, green beans, and a roll for the meal and we saw a lot of clean plates!

We're happy to have you here, Mr. Potter!

We’re excited to introduce Scot Potter, our new School Counselor at Pioneer School!

Mr. Potter brings a wealth of experience to his new role, having served 23 years in law enforcement and 10.5 years in the Marine Corps. His heart for service continues in education, where he shares, “I love working with children and helping them.” This year, Mr. Potter’s goal is to continue learning and growing in his position so he can best support students and families.

We’re grateful to have Mr. Potter as part of the Pioneer Panthers team — welcome aboard!
