May is National Foster Care Month, and we want to take a moment to recognize just how important foster parents are. Every day, they open their homes and hearts to children during some of the most difficult moments in their lives. 💙

Foster caregivers play a vital role in helping children and families heal—and in many cases, that journey leads to reunification.

As highlighted by the Ohio Department of Children and Youth, foster caregivers provide stability, support family connections, and partner with caseworkers and parents to help children safely return home. Their role goes beyond caregiving—they help build trust, encourage progress, and create a foundation for stronger families.

Reunification isn’t just a moment, it’s a journey of healing, growth, and second chances.

On average, there are about 100 children in foster care in Warren County. Due to the number of foster parents licensed through the county, 20% of the kids in care are still being placed far away from everything they know—their schools, friends, and support systems.

These aren’t just numbers. These are children who need stability, connection, and a place to belong.

Preventing child abuse and neglect starts with awareness, compassion, and action. Every child deserves to grow up in a safe, nurturing environment—and we all have a role to play in making that a reality.

Sesame Workshop has created a powerful collection of FREE resources to help caregivers, educators, and families support kids navigating foster care. From videos and storybooks to simple activities, these tools are designed to help children feel safe, seen, and understood.

Through characters like Karli, a Muppet in foster care, kids can better process big feelings, transitions, and questions about belonging. These resources remind us just how important it is to create stability, connection, and hope for every child.

Our foster families enjoyed a wonderful outing at Saturday’s Cincinnati Cyclones vs Toledo Walleye hockey game 🏒! It was a great opportunity to spend quality time together, share some laughs, and create lasting memories. We’re grateful for moments like these that strengthen connections!
