📢 What’s a Mandated Reporter & Why This Time of Year Matters

As the school year begins, teachers, counselors, coaches, and other professionals see children every day, and they are mandated reporters. That means they are legally required to report if they suspect a child is being abused or neglected.

Every year, calls to Children Services rise in the first months of school. It’s not because more harm is happening — it’s because caring adults are finally able to see and speak up for kids who may have been struggling silently over the summer.

💔 More reports mean more children who need safe, loving homes — sometimes urgently. Right now, our community needs more foster parents than ever.

Our community still needs you. Keep it going!

Thank you to everyone who has already shared, commented, asked questions, or helped spread the word about the need for foster parents. Every response matters and we’re asking our community to keep the conversation going.

In the last week we have received 34 inquiries for more information. As amazing as this is, we still have 0 applications returned.

There are children who need a safe, caring place to call home. Once we receive a completed application, one of our support workers will come to your home and go over the process with you. Becoming a foster parent can feel like a big step, but you don’t have to have all the answers before you begin. What matters most is your willingness to show up, provide stability, and be there for a child when they need it most.

What if?

What if I get attached?
What if the child goes home?
What if I don’t know what I’m doing?
What if the situation is hard?
What if I’m not enough?
What if the system is unpredictable?

There will always be “what ifs” when it comes to foster care. And honestly, there are a lot of things in child welfare that we can’t predict or control.

But here’s what we can control: whether a child has a safe place to land, someone who shows up for them, and a home where they feel valued, loved, and cared for.

You don’t have to know exactly how the story will end to make a difference in the middle of it. You don’t have to have all the answers. You just have to be willing to show up.

Don’t let the uncertainty of “what if?” keep you from the possibility of “what if I could change a child’s life?” ❤️

Maybe the biggest “what if” is… what if you said yes?
