The Lebanon Senior Center is currently open Monday through Friday, from 8:00am to 4:00pm. Senior Center programming is geared for those 50 and older, and those with disabilities. Our monthly newsletters, which are available in hard copy at our office or in the photo section of our page, provides an outline of the types of activities that we offer. Stop by the Senior Center and we would lo

ve to show you around our facility. Linx Transit is available for use for all ages (those 12 years and younger must be accompanied by an adult); call 541-258-4920 for more information about LINX Transit or to schedule a ride. The Meal On Wheels Program utilizes our kitchen to serve the Lebanon Community; for info about this program call 541-451-1139.

We have had some updates to our activities as we thought we might. Here is an updated activity calendar for the remainder of June.

Our newest Senior Center Activity Planner will be starting July 1st! We know that everyone is excited and will have lots of questions and requests. We will need to be a little more patient as she gets settled in here and gets to know all of you! Keep an eye out for the July newsletter which will share details about a meet and greet opportunity where you can come share your ideas and wishes for the Center.

Inflation Busting Food Shopping Hacks for Seniors

If shifts in the economy make acquiring essential goods and services a bit more challenging or you wish you could save on essentials to enable you to pursue a hobby or vacation, know you aren’t alone. There are things you can do to try and stretch those food dollars further...and there are tips other than cutting coupons. The Linn County Extension Services will be presenting on Food Resource Management.

We will be raffling off grocery store gift cards, too. (Must be present to win and 50 years or older.)

Crafternoon— Flower Trinket Holder
Thursday, June 11th 2-3:30pm
We will be working with air dry clay in order to shape a small flower shape than can be used to hold jewelry or other small trinkets. If you choose to seal it, you can even use it for a tea bag holder. Maximum of 12 participants. If projects dry fast enough, you will be able to paint it. Please sign up by June 9th, 541-258-4919.

Bowling at Linn Lanes with the Lebanon Senior Center
Tuesday, June 16th 12:00-1:00pm

Cost is $12, which will include shoes, a game of bowling, and a burger basket with drink. Bowling starts at 12:00pm sharp! Sign up by June 15th 12:00pm by calling 541-258-4919 or stopping by the Senior Center office.

Know Your Mind
June is Alzheimers and Brain Awareness Month. We are celebrating our cerebellums (and all the other parts of our brain) with an educational series on the brain. We will explore how it functions and makes us who we are and things you can do to keep it healthy. As we explore how a healthy brain works and what normal aging can do to its functionality, we will also learn about medical conditions that can create extra challenges and health issues, such as different types of Dementia and Alzheimers.

Tuesday afternoon lineup:

June 9th 2:00pm– “YOUR BRAIN: Perception Deception”- NOVA explores the latest research asking, ‘Are you in control, or is your brain controlling you?’”

June 16th 1:00pm– “Is It All in Your Head” This presentation will cover some of the most common types of Dementia, how to spot indicators and early warning signs, how best to support once a diagnosis is given, prevention methods, and time for a brief Q & A. Cody Sheets-Wack, Behavior Professional who works with Adults and elderly populations, will be our presenter.

June 23rd 2:30pm– “Vitamins & Supplements: Know Before You Buy” Learn about smart/safe vitamin and supplement use from doctors at Mercer University College of Pharmacy in a BRAIN TALK recorded webinar.

June 30th 2:00pm– “Supporting Brain Health” (recorded webinar from Brain Links) Discussing negative factors on brain performance, and the positive, research-based steps you can take to improve your brain. Small changes can have a BIG impact.
