Every 2nd Friday @ 6pm, at The Weeping Willow Café in Lebanon, VA We believe that we're greater together than we are on our own—that this country succeeds when everyone gets a fair shot, everyone does their fair share, and everyone plays by the same rules. We strive to elect to public office

those individuals who hold these same beliefs and will represent Russell County with integrity, making it a better place to "live, work, and play."

🏳️‍🌈 Happy Pride Month from the Russell County Democratic Committee!

Pride Month is a celebration of the LGBTQIA+ community, a recognition of the progress that has been made, and a reminder that the work of building a more inclusive society continues.

Pride matters because everyone deserves to live openly, safely, and authentically. It is a time to honor those who fought for equality, support those who still face discrimination, and reaffirm that every person deserves dignity, respect, and opportunity.

This month, we celebrate the diversity that strengthens our communities and stand with our LGBTQIA+ neighbors, friends, family members, and loved ones.

The Russell County Democratic Committee honors all who have given their lives in service to our country. On this day of remembrance, we reflect on the sacrifices made by generations of service members and the families they left behind.

We also remember those recently lost in the conflict with Iran and recognize the heavy cost paid when lives are placed in harm’s way. The greatest way we can honor those we have lost is to pursue peace whenever possible and treat the decision to go to war with the gravity it deserves.

We had a wonderful time at the CLUW - Western Virginia Chapter’s annual Bread & Roses dinner celebrating our very own Hannah Long of CWA Local 2204 for being named Women of the Year!

Joining the celebration was our current committee chair Alice Michelle Schlichting and immediate prior chair (and wearer many hats) Dustin Keith.

Congratulations also to Lily for Delegate for receiving the Profile in Courage award, and Bill Dunn for being named Man of the Year.

Bread and Roses stands for the belief that workers deserve not just survival, but a life with dignity, respect, and beauty.

Unions are built on solidarity and the belief that working people deserve dignity, fairness, and a real voice in their workplaces. Through collective action, unions have helped win life changing progress, from safer working conditions and fair pay to healthcare and the 40 hour work week. The labor movement has always been about people standing together to make life better for everyone.

In light of recent events, solidarity remains essential as working people continue to face new challenges and fight for fairness in the workplace.
