We have some wonderful news but we also need your help! We are going to be bringing back in person training!!! Fall season has already began so it will be virtual only. In order for us to be able to bring back in person we need your help with a few things.

1. Make sure you get your new medical form filled out and turned in. Without it we can’t have you return to in person.

2. Help us find 2 safety managers! We are in need of this position filled before we can bring back in person. Spread the word, send us your recommendations. We would love to get volunteers in place as soon as possible.

3. We are in need of a new medical manager. If you know anyone to be a good fit for this please send their name our way!

4. All coaches have to complete required training.

We are a few steps closer to being back together again! Help us get these three things taken care of and we will see y’all in no time! #soorstrong #linncountyrocks #bebraveintheattempt

I am saddened to tell everyone that Tina L. Groff passed away today 2:30 pm.
She was such a happy and loving soul. In all the time that I got to spend with her, I never saw her in a bad mood. She always had a smile and a hug for you. May her star continue to shine brightly. August 3, 1967 - August 4, 2021
She will be missed.

Sad to share the news that we lost a very special person to cancer. Please send healing thoughts and love her families way. I had the pleasure of working with Gina both on and off the field. We have truly lost one of the most caring people I know.

Several years ago Gin Sawin coached bocce for our program. She brought a huge heart for our athletes and a great sense of humor! Today we learned that she lost her battle with cancer. Those of us who knew her will remember her as a fun and caring coach. Rest in peace, Gin!

Please help support Alan Lynn. He has been a huge supporter of Special Olympics and he can use our support now more than ever! If you have pictures of you and him please feel free to share in the comments below. I know Alan means a lot to all of us!

Alan Lynn is one of the most caring, selfless, humble and loving people you will meet Alan has lived a life of service to his country and community. Now Alan needs our support, prayers, and help!

On March 31st, 2021 Alan retired from APD and Law Enforcement after a long and honorable career. As he wrote on his FACEBOOK, "Now it's time to ride off into the sunset, work on my retirement hairstyle and see what door opens next for me."

On Monday, April 5th, five days into retirement, Alan went to Urgent Care for a sore throat and before the day was done he was being rushed to OHSU knowing it was likely he had Leukemia.

Since the 5th, Alan has been at OHSU undergoing a battery of testing and treatments. It is now confirmed that Alan has Acute Myeloid Leukemia with the FLT3 mutation. Alan's wife Karin, is also in law enforcement and recovering from major ankle surgery.

We, at APD, are devasted and saddened by this news. We have already taken steps to help Alan and his family through donations, errands, and other chores. We share this publicly so that the public, many who knew Alan well, have a chance to help. Our community has been so supportive and we appreciate any help you can provide to Alan during this difficult time.

A GoFundMe account has been set up on his behalf.

Thank you for your continued support.
