James is running to represent Sumter County and portions of Lake and Orange counties, while Chris is running to represent Citrus and Hernando counties, along with portions of Pasco and Hillsborough counties.

Thirty-six years ago today, the Americans with Disabilities Act became the law of the land, affirming a simple but powerful principle: disability rights are civil rights.

The ADA transformed our country by expanding access to employment, education, transportation, public spaces, and civic life. It has opened doors for millions of Americans, but the work of building truly accessible and inclusive communities is far from finished.

As we celebrate the ADA's 36th anniversary, we recommit ourselves to protecting these hard-won rights and advocating for a future where every person, regardless of disability, can fully participate in our democracy and our communities.

Today we celebrate the progress we've made, honor the advocates who made it possible, and continue the work of ensuring accessibility, opportunity, and dignity for all.

Our Board issued the following statement:

The LGBTQ+ Democratic Caucus of the Nature Coast Region strongly condemns the conduct of Congressional candidate Brit Robinson toward U.S. Senate candidate Alex Vindman during this past weekend's Florida Democratic Party Leadership Blue event.

The videos shared by Ms. Robinson herself depict behavior that falls well below the standards Democrats should expect from anyone seeking public office. Following, confronting, and repeatedly engaging another candidate after it was clear those interactions were unwelcome is unacceptable. Harassment and intimidation have no place in our party.

Our organization believes campaigns should be won by earning voters' trust through ideas, leadership, and respect for others. Passionate disagreements are a healthy part of democracy. Personal intimidation is not.

As Democrats, we ask voters to trust us with leadership because we promise to defend dignity, equality, and democratic values. Those principles must guide how we treat one another, especially when we disagree.

We call on every Democratic candidate, elected official, and activist to reject harassment, respect personal boundaries, and model the professionalism our party deserves. Florida Democrats should be united by our shared commitment to defeating extremism, not distracted by conduct that undermines the values we fight to protect.
