The June Skeeter Meter is live! 🦟

There is an elevated chance of encountering mosquitoes this month. As we get more rain and temperatures rise, we will see more and more mosquitoes. Make sure you're dumping those containers around the yard! Wear an EPA approved repellent when outside.

Don't forget, you can let us know if you have mosquitoes by submitting a service request: https://citrusmosquito.org/ww2/contact/requests/

🐞 Ages 8–10, this one’s for the kids who are basically bug besties.

If your child thinks beetles are awesome, spiders deserve respect, and stopping to look at every bug outside is a personality trait—welcome to Critter Quest Camp.

Citrus County Parks and Recreation, in partnership with Citrus County Mosquito Control, is bringing a hands-on adventure packed with microscopes, field investigations, life cycle discoveries, and all the “wow, bugs are actually amazing” moments.

Campers will explore habitats, investigate insects up close, and dive into the wild world of biodiversity like real junior scientists. It’s science, nature, and outdoor adventure—with serious bug bestie energy.

Because honestly? Bugs are tiny legends, and kids who love them are even cooler.

As Lyme Disease Awareness Month comes to a close, remember the following Lyme prevention tips:

💠 Use EPA-registered insect repellents
💠 Treat clothing and gear with 0.5% permethrin
💠 Wear long sleeves and pants
💠 Avoid wooded and brushy areas where ticks live
💠 Shower soon after being outdoors
💠 Check for ticks, remove ticks promptly, and seek care if symptoms develop

If you find an attached tick, remove it as soon as possible. Removing attached ticks within 24 hours can help prevent Lyme disease.
