In 2008, the Harvard University Field Study stated: "A great asset for Lee is the opportunity ability to tap into the larger Berkshires creative economy. A recent report by the Berkshires Creative Economy task force found the “creative economy” of the Berkshires generates tremendous revenue for local businesses. Of the $55 million spent annually by the major cultural institutions in the area, 72% or $40 million is spent locally in Berkshire County. Tapping into this and other existing networks, we believe is absolutely critical in maximizing Lee’s potentialities. We propose that Lee consider adopting cultural programming".

In 2007, the Lee Downtown Strategic Review was completed and stated that “street fairs and special events can help build a sense of working together and shared goals”. The Lee Cultural Council is working toward this for the Town of Lee.

In 2006 the Lee CDC and Lee Chamber of Commerce conducted a survey of businesses downtown, which was also offered on the Lee CDC and Town websites. Many downtown residents were also polled. The issues that were of the highest importance to the largest number of respondents were: expansion of parking availability; development of the “Bookless Block”; and encouraging more downtown events. Since that time, the first two projects have been completed. The Lee Cultural Council is working on bringing more events to the town.

Daniel Chester French designed a two-sided water fountain - one side for horses and one for people - which is made of Lee marble and sits today at Park Place in front of the Congregational Church.

This is also the location of the annual Festival Latino and this years holiday caroling event enjoyed by approximately 125 residents and visitors.
