Formed in 1941 we provided fire protection to the citizens of our township and surrounding communities. We are located in Westmoreland county in Pa.

Just a reminder that we have a water buffalo set up at our station at 99 Firehall Road Leechburg Pa 15656 right of of PA 356. The water is non-potable but can be used for filling toilets and washing. Our members are checking on it to ensure that it remains full for your use. Also a reminder to check Markle VFD for some of the services they are offering while storm recovery continues.

Residents are asked to bring closeable containers i.e. 5-gallon bucket with lid.

The weather is beautiful and spring cleanups are on the project list but please don't burn! A small fire can turn into a large one quickly given the wind and dry conditions. Be safe!

Rep. Abby Major (R-Armstrong/Westmoreland) today announced that 30 fire and emergency medical services companies serving the 60th Legislative District were awarded over $417,000 in Fire Company and Emergency Medical Services grants.

The grant program was initiated in 2000 and is open to volunteer and career fire companies, emergency medical services and rescue squads in Pennsylvania. Grant awards can be used for construction or repair of facilities, purchase or repair of equipment, debt reduction and training. The funding amounts are contingent on the recipients filing their grant agreements with the Office of the State Fire Commissioner.

Fire and emergency medical services companies that serve the 60th District were awarded the following amounts:

The rainfall we received in our area Wednesday totalled about 0.1". That was enough to take the dust down but not enough to make it safe for burning.

DO NOT BURN TODAY! Small fires can quickly spread and endanger structures under the extremely dry and windy conditions we are experiencing. Be conscientious of yourself and others; those leaf piles can wait!

With the rainfall we received last night the Pennsylvania DCNR has moved us into the low fire danger zone for today. However, the underbrush is still dry and can easily ignite. Be safe and leave no fire unsupervised.

ATVFC #1 has made it an annual tradition to patrol the township for Trick-or-Treat every year on Halloween to ensure safety for children and their parents. PLEASE don't burn today so we can dedicate our trucks and members to this wonderful tradition and not extinguishing brush fires. Thank you!

Today members of ATVFC #1 along with the assistance of West Leechburg Volunteer Fire Department, Markle VFD and Lower Burrell VFC No. 1 battled a brush fire endangering multiple structures. Crews attacked the fire from the upper and lower side of the embankment. This fire stemmed from a controlled burn. Again, we ask you to PLEASE refrain from burning due to the extremely dry conditions.
