Just a reminder that we have a water buffalo set up at our station at 99 Firehall Road Leechburg Pa 15656 right of of PA 356. The water is non-potable but can be used for filling toilets and washing. Our members are checking on it to ensure that it remains full for your use. Also a reminder to check Markle VFD for some of the services they are offering while storm recovery continues.

Rep. Abby Major (R-Armstrong/Westmoreland) today announced that 30 fire and emergency medical services companies serving the 60th Legislative District were awarded over $417,000 in Fire Company and Emergency Medical Services grants.

The grant program was initiated in 2000 and is open to volunteer and career fire companies, emergency medical services and rescue squads in Pennsylvania. Grant awards can be used for construction or repair of facilities, purchase or repair of equipment, debt reduction and training. The funding amounts are contingent on the recipients filing their grant agreements with the Office of the State Fire Commissioner.

Fire and emergency medical services companies that serve the 60th District were awarded the following amounts:

➡️ Apollo Hose Company #3 – $12,449.
➡️ Bethel Township Volunteer Fire Department – $12,018.

➡️ Ford Cliff Volunteer Fire Company – $13,310.
➡️ Freeport Fire-EMS – $15,000.

➡️ Gilpin Township Volunteer Fire Department – $12,018.
➡️ Hose Company No. 1 Ford City (Ford City Hose Co. #1) – $12,879.

Today members of ATVFC #1 along with the assistance of West Leechburg Volunteer Fire Department, Markle VFD and Lower Burrell VFC No. 1 battled a brush fire endangering multiple structures. Crews attacked the fire from the upper and lower side of the embankment. This fire stemmed from a controlled burn. Again, we ask you to PLEASE refrain from burning due to the extremely dry conditions.
