a lady was walking up from Aldi and stopped to say hi, introduced herself, chatted for a few,then said let me take some pictures of you

โ€œWe should get more pictures of ourselves doing cool sh*tโ€

She made sure to get some action shots, different angles, and of my face (not a thing I enjoy doingโ€ฆ.)

Join me for Art Night, a relaxing evening of creating unique fabric art together.

Thursday, July 16th
6pm-9pm
$60/ per person

We will explore Kinusaiga, a beautiful Japanese craft that takes vibrant, colorful, and fun patterned fabric scraps to create stunning, mosaic-like designs. It mimics an intricate, quilt-like pattern but with no sewing required.
Together, we will sketch our designs, transfer them to foam, and tuck the fabric edges into the board to create a personalized work of art.

What's Included: All tools, materials, step-by-step instruction, light snacks, and a mocktail are provided. Each participant will leave with an 8in x 8in framed piece of art.

Note: All artistic levels are welcome! Please note the project requires moderate hand dexterity, as we will use ezacto knives, scissors, and tucking tools. All materials will be provided, but please feel free to bring in your own fabric scraps to use or share with others.

๐Ÿ–คwhat an honor this project has been๐Ÿ–ค

Ophelia of Creative Emajination's invited me to help her complete this mural at Johnnyโ€™s Donuts. She told me it was the heart of the community and just wanted to add some creativity to this iconic location.

I didnโ€™t know how iconic Johnny is.
What this location means to people.
How beloved it is.

Heโ€™s been making donuts since he was 17 and has been a standing business on Prospect for over 45 years. Feeding people through so many years. His donuts are incredible, burgers are perfection, and I havenโ€™t gotten try the chicken yet but was told itโ€™s so good youโ€™ll be fighting for the last piece.

Everyday I painted, even on the days he was closed, there was a constant flow of people. They would stop, chat with me, share their stories of getting donuts from Johnny ever since they were kids, grab lunch, encourage me and cheer me on, and take pictures. Then theyโ€™d pull open the door and greet Johnny with so much love.

Johnnyโ€™s is more than just donuts, itโ€™s the true meaning of community. Itโ€™s the heartbeat.

People told me how happy they were to have this mural brought to life in their neighborhood. That they were proud of it. Folks acknowledged and appreciated the hand lettering, bright colors, and details we added. Said they were happy to see real art and not something AI and printed.

I met some incredible people.
Heard so many neat stories.
Others who want to add art to their spots.

So grateful for this opportunity and the time I got to spend connecting with everyone and sharing my art at Johnnyโ€™s.
