Loudoun County Parks, Recreation and Community Services Our mission is to provide outstanding recreational and leisure opportunities, outcome-focused community services, and stewardship of our natural resources to promote quality of life for Loudoun’s residents and visitors.

Since 1966, the Department of Parks, Recreation and Community Services (PRCS) has endeavored to meet the needs of Loudoun residents for recreation, leisure and supportive programs that are diverse, accessible and affordable. What You Need to Know Now About Additional Doses of COVID-19 Vaccine

Virginia is now offering a third dose of COVID-19 vaccine to people who received two doses of either Pfizer or Moderna and are moderately and severely immunocompromised. This follows the recommendation of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention announced August 13 and includes people who have:
➡ Been receiving active cancer treatment for tumors or cancers of the blood;
➡ Received an organ transplant and are taking medicine to suppress the immune system;
➡ Received a stem cell transplant within the last two years or are taking medicine to suppress the immune system;
➡ Moderate or severe primary immunodeficiency (such as DiGeorge syndrome, Wiskott-Aldrich syndrome);
➡ Advanced or untreated HIV infection; and/or
➡ Active treatment with high-dose corticosteroids or other drugs that may suppress your immune response.

COVID-19 Cases Increasing in Loudoun County; Health Officials Encourage Unvaccinated to Seek Vaccination ASAP https://bit.ly/3rAFete

➡ Health officials report that over the past month, the number of new cases of COVID-19 have increased significantly in Loudoun County, in Virginia and throughout the United States, fueled by the coronavirus Delta variant.

➡ Health officials also have noted that among Loudoun residents who are vaccinated, the most likely risk factor for COVID-19 infection is another infected member of their household who is unvaccinated.

➡The Health Department strongly recommends that everyone age 12 years and older get a COVID-19 vaccine ASAP. Vaccine is free for everyone and widely available from many vaccine providers throughout Loudoun County.

“Creating Community Through People, Parks and Programs”

PRCS reaches out to the community through a countywide system of facilities that includes trails, athletic fields, active and passive parks, open space, community/recreation/senior centers, playgrounds, sports complexes, a nature preserve and nature center, a fine arts center, indoor and outdoor pools, historic/heritage sites, adult day centers, a catering kitchen facility and administrative offices. Some PRCS activities are also offered at county public school sites. Programs and services encompass facility planning and development, children’s programs (including licensed preschool, summer camp and after-school care), sports and recreation, community outreach, aging services, youth services, adaptive recreation, health and fitness, facility maintenance, customer service, and environmental stewardship.
