Loudoun Literacy Council recruits and trains volunteers to teach adults, both native-speakers and speakers of other languages, to read, write, speak, and understand English. For children, we provide early literacy enrichment for at-risk preschool children and children who reside in our local homeless shelters, while supporting their parents as their child's first teacher.

Since 1980, Loudoun Literacy Council has been providing low-income adults and children with the literacy proficiency, communications skills, and personal confidence to not only attain self-sufficiency but also thrive in Loudoun County. We recruit and train volunteers to teach adults, both native speakers and speakers of other languages, to read, write, speak, and understand English. We also provide early literacy enrichment for at-risk preschool children and children who reside in our local homeless shelters, while supporting their parents as their child's first teacher.
