Air shows are American Small Business

Air shows are American small business.

As the U.S. Small Business Administration prepares to launch the Shuttered Venue Operators Grant (SVOG) program, the American air show industry wants to congratulate SBA Administrator Isabel Guzman on her recent confirmation by the U.S. Senate and thank the #SBA for its support of American #airshow businesses.

Air shows are shuttered venues that have suffered significant financial damage during the pandemic. And they must receive economic relief as part of the SBA’s #SVOG program.

Surely that's gotta be a rare occasion for the PACAF F-16 Demonstration Team!

Either way, it's great to see all the teams and performers getting back at it!

TBT: Typically the weather holds out on DEMO! practice days however, shortly after Sirius taxied the snow and wind picked up on the flightline. Our maintainers continued to execute their duties which is what makes them some of the worlds greatest Airmen!

NATIONAL AEROBATICS DAY

Saturday, June 26.

“There are few things in life and nothing else in aviation that are as joyful and liberating as flying aerobatics,” said John Cudahy, President of the International Council of Air Shows. “And the idea of devoting one day each year to celebrating aerobatics is brilliant.”

IAC ANNOUNCES NATIONAL AEROBATICS DAY! The skill, beauty, and excitement of aerobatic flight will be celebrated on Saturday, JUNE 26, during the inaugural National Aerobatics Day.

“National Aerobatics Day is the perfect day to host an aerobatic camp, a BBQ, a practice session, or to share videos of aerobatic activity online,” IAC president Jim Bourke said. “With over 40 chapters nationwide and two international chapters, IAC members will be organizing these types of activities and others to engage the public and general aviation pilots in aerobatics.”

PSA for all event organizers and performers:

Be on the lookout for fake or spoofed event pages. We’ve seen a large uptick in fake duplicate events and pages created in the past year, and specifically in the past few months.

Please do a quick search of yourself in FB and other social platforms to help identify and report fake and spoofed pages before they become an issue.

We understand there has been a lot of confusion regarding our air show. At this time, the next Luke Days is scheduled for March 19-20, 2022! ✈️

Additionally, we recognize there has a been a plethora of fake events circling around Facebook. To clarify, there will NOT be an air show held in 2021. For the most accurate and up-to-date information follow our official Facebook account at @Luke56thFW.

We would like to thank our community for being patient with us during the confusion that has spiked over the last few weeks! We hope to see you out here in 2022!

The Air Force Thunderbirds and the U.S. Navy Blue Angels debuted the #superdelta today.

Both teams are just about air show ready for the 2021 season!

For the first time ever, the Thunderbirds and Blue Angels debut a F-16 Fighting Falcon and F/A-18 Super Hornet flight formation known as the “Super Delta” during a joint training evolution this afternoon over the Imperial Valley.

The formation grew out of a series of joint training opportunities held in 2020 and 2021, and serves as a symbol of the teamwork, discipline, and skill of the men and women of our United States military forces deployed around the globe.

We are humbled to have the opportunity to virtually debut a full flight this Memorial Day weekend during the nation-wide broadcast of the National Memorial Day Parade: America Stands Tall, hosted by the American Veterans Center in Washington, D.C., honoring those who have served and sacrificed before us.

Tune-in to your ABC, NBC, CBS and Fox affiliate May 29 -31, to view the debut of this formation flight with re-airings in the weeks to follow. For more information about the parade and virtual flyover, visit www.NationalMemorialDayParade.com.

BLUE ANGELS & THUNDERBIRDS ANNOUNCE JOINT TRAINING

The Air Force Thunderbirds will join the U.S. Navy Blue Angels at Naval Air Facility El Centro starting tomorrow for joint training exercises until mid next week. Information and operational knowledge sharing is seen as a key asset for ongoing success as both teams prep the 2021 North American air show season.

We’re excited to announce our upcoming information exchange with the U.S. Navy Blue Angels onboard Naval Air Facility (NAF) El Centro from February 24-March 3.

Both teams are in the middle of their winter training cycles and will not conduct performances; however, training flights with similar profiles to the air show routine will be conducted in accordance with annual training objectives.

“We are thrilled to once again host the U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds at our winter training facility for an invaluable information exchange” said Cmdr. Brian Kesselring, Blue Angels commanding officer and flight leader. “Each opportunity the teams have to work together, is an opportunity to share experiences and best practices between our two service branches."

The last time the Blue Angels and Thunderbirds performed together at an air show was at the Joint Base Andrews Air and Space Expo. May 11-12, 2019. Upon cancellation of air shows in 2020, the two teams came together in a collaborative, multi-city flyover mission called “America Strong” saluting healthcare workers, first responders, military and other essential personnel serving on the frontlines of the COVID-19 pandemic response.

“Last year’s America Strong joint flyover mission is a testament of how important and valuable joint trainings with the U.S. Navy Blue Angels are for our respective teams and the Department of Defense as a whole,” said Lt. Col. John Caldwell, U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds commander and leader. “When we are able to share our expertise and operational knowledge about our shared mission, we can better serve the nation. We appreciate the Blue Angels for hosting us again and look forward to enhancing our operations from this joint exchange.”

This year, the Thunderbirds are slated to perform 49 demonstrations at 27 locations and the Blue Angels are scheduled to perform 53 flight demonstrations at 28 locations across the United States and Canada.

The U.S. Navy Blue Angels are working hard on prepping for the 2021 season - but everyone needs a little smile break every now and again. 😁

PERSEVERANCE ON MARS

Just a couple hours ago, NASA successfully landed their Perseverance Mars Rover. The rover, which launched in late July, will work to pave the way toward human exploration of the red planet.

#PerseveranceRover #space #STEM

Watch an epic journey unfold on Thursday, Feb. 18 as NASA's Perseverance Mars Rover lands. To reach the surface of the Red Planet, the rover has to survive the harrowing final phase known as Entry, Descent, and Landing.

Only then can the rover – the biggest, heaviest, cleanest, and most sophisticated six-wheeled robot ever launched into space – search Jezero Crater for signs of ancient life and collect samples that will eventually be returned to Earth.

Tune in to a live video feed of key landing activities and commentary from Mission Control at our NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory.

General information

ICAS was founded in 1967 as a trade and professional association by industry professionals to protect and promote their interests in the growing North American air show marketplace. At the time, this small group of air show event organizers and performers recognized the need for standardization of industry practices in key areas such as safety and business practices that could only be achieved collectively. They knew that -- for such standardization to occur -- the industry needed to act and speak with a single voice and that voice was established in ICAS. Today, the organization’s mission statement has evolved a bit, but still focuses on the core principles around which the organization was created: 1) to maintain safety; 2) to serve as an information resource on air show issues for those within and outside the industry; 3) to provide for the training and continuing education needs of ICAS members and air show professionals generally; and 4) to promote the air show industry to the media, Corporate North America and the general public.

David Buck, a Delta Captain living in Senoia set this up with Buck's help. Please chip in... Senoia residents: A tragedy occurred on our doorstep last night. As many of you know, Senoia has had for many years a fly-in community called Big T airport. It is located adjacent to Highway 16 near Circle K/McDonalds. A number of our residents live on that grass runway and fly their planes in and out. One of the residents is the Sorenson family. Mark Sorenson is a world-class airshow performer and airline Captain. His air show flying partner, Mark Nowosielski, is originally from South Africa and resided in Florida. Yesterday Mark Nowosielski flew a newly-acquired aircraft into Big T and picked up Mark Sorenson’s teen aged son and took him for a ride. Something happened and a crash occurred and both perished. To say this is an unspeakable tragedy is an understatement. The Sorenson’s are clearly grieving and I’m sure Mark Nowosielski’s family is well. This is a perfect time to step up as a community and shower the Sorenson’s (and Nowosielski family) with some Senoia love. ❤️ 👉🏻 PLEASE give them privacy and don’t reach out to them at this time. But I’d like to help spearhead collecting some money from their Senoia neighbors and surrounding community to help pay for funeral and other costs. One need that exists is Mark Nowosielski’s Mother will need to fly out from South Africa for the funeral. That will be costly. And I’m sure there are other needs as well. Some of you may remember that I spearheaded the fund raising to “resurrect” the chiming clock at Senoia’s main intersection. I raised funds through GoFundMe. As this has gotten bigger, it’s clear that GoFundMe is going to be the best, and safest, way to continue to raise funds. If you’d like to contribute, here are your options: 👉🏻GoFundMe: gofundme.com/f/twin-tigers-memorial-fund 👉🏻Checks (👉🏻made out to Mark Sorenson) or CASH can be dropped off at Senoia Coffee Company (thank you Brent and April Watson Anderson) Every dollar helps. Let’s send some Senoia love these hurting families’ way. Thank you! Special thanks to another local world-class airshow performer Buck Roetman for his help setting this up. Buck is very close with these families and lost dear friends in this tragedy.
More than just an environment to conduct business, the ICAS Convention in Las Vegas proved to be a great opportunity to meet many of my heros and share countless amazing stories

APPLE VALLEY AIRSHOW TIPS: Bring your family and friends! Otherwise, they will be jealous they didn't go. Get there early for best parking which is free! You don't want to end up in the tumbleweeds. Plus, you will be totally annoyed if you missed the F-16 because it's flying early. Bring the kids, because they are going to have such a great time they will sleep well that night. Wear sunscreen, because it is going to be sunny and gorgeous and if you played hookie to go to the airshow your colleagues will know you went to the airshow if you show up to work with a sunglasses tan. Wear sunglasses, hats, etc. because you know you look cool in them. Bring a folding chair if you want. This may help you get so comfi, you won't want to get up and you will not miss any of the performers. Bleachers are available free of charge. You can bring a stadium cushion for the bleachers. Charge your cell phone and maybe bring a back up booster because you we know are going to take a lot of photos and a TON of selfies! And you know you are going to share them with all your friends on social media. Bring cash cause you know you want a blue snow cone so you can take a selfie and post it so you can let your friends know you are at the Apple Valley Airshow. Anyway, ATMs available at minimal fees. What's permitted and prohibited is found online. Do click on the FAQs page, you wouldn't want to bring a large beach umbrella or a large cooler and have to walk back to the car. That would make anyone cranky. Read all the FAQs at http://applevalleyairshow.com/faq No dogs or pets allowed. Service animals ok. However, the jet noise may freak them out and the asphalt may be hot for their paws. You know they like to sleep on the couch when you are gone. So, come out and have a great time. It will be a ton more fun than chilling on the couch. For more info, go to www.applevalleyairshow.com. F-16 Viper Demo Team #ViperDemoTeam #AppleValleyAirshow
