New law makes free national parks access for veterans permanent. In 2020, the National Parks Service granted veterans and Gold Star Families free access to parks and sites across the country. Over the holidays, the policy became law with the signing of the NDAA , which included the Alexander Lofgren Veterans in Parks (VIP) Act. Planning a national park visit? VA EXTENDS PRESUMPTIVE PERIOD FOR GULF WAR VETERANS
WASHINGTON — The Department of Veterans Affairs has extended the presumptive period to Dec. 31, 2026 for qualifying chronic disabilities rated 10% or more resulting from undiagnosed illnesses in Persian Gulf War Veterans to ensure benefits established by Congress are fairly administered.
MIDDLEBURG 5K RUN: On Sat Nov 13, the Middleburg American Legion Post 295 and Boy Scout Troop 2950 are holding the “Rally ‘round the Flag” 5-K Run to raise funds for the Post, the Scout Troop, and for our Scholarship and Veterans Fund. The event kicks off at 8:30 a.m. for the 5K for runners and walkers. The Boy Scouts will be serving breakfast at the American Legion’s Patriot’s Hall and is optional for all the runners and non-participants. There will be an Awards Ceremony hosted by the Post Commander after the race.
