Is it time for lunch? No? Well, then I'm going back to bed!

Bianca is catching up on her beauty sleep, please do not disturb unless you have snacks! Bianca would also be willing to be woken to meet with adopters, ideally ones that will shower her with praise, treats and admiration! Bianca likes to sit next to our volunteers, she is always curious about them and meeting new people! She is a social eater and loves to munch on her food while you sing her praises. Bianca's favorite thing is head scratchies and she will bump you with her head for more!

Interested in meeting Bianca? We are open Monday - Sunday, 11am-6pm for adoptions. Learn more and see all of the adoptable animals on our website: https://www.loudoun.gov/534/Available-Pets

Our stray friend from yesterday is settling in! First stop was in dispatch to file his Found Report! He quickly made friends with Dispatcher Jess and we learned that his name is Tim! He insists his address is 123 Elf Road, North Pole, and while we have had stray animals arrive at the shelter from all over, this is certainly the furthest!

Just like all strays that arrive at the shelter, we will compare Tim's found report to the lost reports in our system to try and find his family. If you find or lose a pet, you can file these reports too - just call us at 703-777-0406. We will also make flyers to hang where he was found and crosscheck his appearance against all of the licensed pets in the area.

The next step for Tim was an intake exam from the medical team! No microchip unfortunately, but lots of giggles and refusing to sit still! He appears to be in perfect health so he will head on over to the Care Team to get a kennel assignment for the night!

Humane Law Enforcement Officer Gibson received a call about a stray friend, roaming through Loudoun County. We aren't quite sure what species he is, but we will do our very best to take good care of him until we can find his family! Let us know if you have any ideas who his family might be!

Like all strays that arrive at the shelter, this little friend will be scanned for a microchip and checked for other forms of ID like a tag and/or collar. He will be given an intake exam and a found report will be created and compared with on-file lost reports to see if we can find an owner! Microchips are the best way for us to find owners so let's keep our fingers crossed he has one! We will let you know what we discover!

Pasta? Pizza? Grubhub? Uber Eats? As long as it involves carbs, sign Phanty up!

This handsome cat can eat his way through a bag of PartyMix in five seconds flat. Leftovers is not a word in his vocabulary. When he isn't busy chowing down on a snack, this mega-fluff enjoys charming his way onto your lap or snoozing on one of the many dogs beds (yes, dog beds...) available to him. We tried placing a cat exercise wheel in his kennel, you can take a guess how that went.

Part of Phanty's fitness program includes him spending time in an office. We think the idea was to give him more space and hopefully more exercise? What actually happens is now Phanty spends his days snoozing and purring for attention in the middle of an office while not lifting a single paw.

Is this fluffy, chonky, kitty-cat the one for you? Come meet Phanty today! We are open Monday-Sunday, 11am-6pm for adoptions. Learn more about Phanty and all of our available animals on our website: https://www.loudoun.gov/534/Available-Pets

We are keeping our paws crossed for a full recovery for this Red-shouldered Hawk! Humane Law Enforcement Officer Gibson received the initial call for assistance and was able to remove and transport the hawk for further medical attention. Check out the post from Blue Ridge Wildlife Center below for the full story!

In this situation, the finder called us immediately and did not try to remove the bird from the car grille themselves. We are thankful they gave us a call! Due to the animal’s sharp beak and talons, and the ability to cause further damage with improper removal, calling a professional is the best way to give the animal a chance at survival.

If you spot an animal in need of help - give us a call at 703-777-0406.

Snow went to explore a local park with one of our volunteers today! She had a great time walking around the ball fields and golf course! Snow really enjoyed all of the attention and was on her best behavior in the car and on her walk. Snow also wore her festive sweater for the entire adventure! What a fashionable pup!

Interested in meeting her? We are open for adoptions from 11am-6pm, come on by the shelter! Learn more about our adoptable animals and adoption process on our website: https://www.loudoun.gov/534/Available-Pets

Snow put on her fanciest sweater and is waiting patiently under the tree for her holiday wish to come true! A new family to go home with!

Snow is a sweet pup who enjoys snuggles and cheese. Snow is a very smart dog, she figures out puzzle toys quickly and loves to play with them. Snow has done a few play groups with other pups. Forget the snowball fight, Snow's play style is more along the lines of helping you make a snowman or enjoying snuggles by a warm fire. Interested in meeting her? We are open from 11am-6pm for adoptions. Learn more about Snow and the other animals available for adoption on our website: https://www.loudoun.gov/534/Available-Pets

We love getting adoption updates! Fella stole our hearts while he was here and we were thrilled when he found his perfect home. His adopters write:

"To All...clearly this Big Boy was cared for in a loving way. He commandeered our hearts immediately. He moved in as if...well, like he's been here forever.

We had a lovely, calm evening and today is a nap and cuddle day. He's used his box twice and seems to be thriving. I know we are!

Not sure if we'll call him Fella, we're waiting for his guidance. Thank you, thank you, thank you!"

Thank you for adopting and Congratulations Fella! We are happy you are home!

✨Dog Fosters Needed!✨

Do you have a little extra time, lots of love to give and patience, patience, patience? We have two, sweet dogs in need of foster homes! Can you help?

Faith and Joy are both looking for foster homes. They are scaredy pups but try very hard to be brave. New experiences can be overwhelming for them, so we are looking for people who can help them learn that new experiences can be AMAZING (and generally involve lots of yummy treats)!

Neither Faith or Joy know how to walk on leash yet, so a secure, fenced yard is a must. Having a social dog at home might be a plus as well. If you can help, fill out the survey below and we will be in touch:

This kitty acts lost but looks too well cared for to be a stray. It’s been in my yard all day but now that it is dark and cold it cries to come inside. Just set her up in my garage with a can of tuna and blankets but we can’t let in house due to severe allergies. Needs to find owner ASAP. Catoctin Chase neighborhood in SW Leesburg.
Adopted my cat during the summer her name was Kitty, now her name is Roxy. She has a best friend and doing great. Thanks for all you do.
Louie (Buddy) is the light of my life. Thank you so much for taking good care of him in the shelter before we got to adopt him.

UPDATE: Miss Cheesus has been FOUND alive. A true Christmas Miracle! Prayers are still needed as she is being taken to the ER, but we are optimistic that she will be ok. Thank you all for sharing! Miss Cheesus. 2 years old missing since 4pm 12/21/2020. She was spotted about an hour ago but took off again down the mountain. Last seen on Blue Ridge Mountain Road on Mt Weather. Any help is greatly appreciated.
Thank you LCAS and Officer Powell for rescuing and caring for our “escapees.” We are grateful to Officer Powell for picking them up and all of you for caring for them during their self-imposed field trip. Needless to say they are worn out!
