🎣 Happy National Fishing Day! This is a great time to talk about trout! 🐟

Did you know our trout story starts in a classroom? Through our Trout in the Classroom program, Berks County students raised trout from egg to fingerling and released them into a local stream. 🌊

A few fun facts to share on your next fishing trip:

🐟 The brook trout is PA's only native trout (and our state fish!)
🌡️ They need cold, clean water to survive
🔬 Spot one and you've found a healthy stream
🏞️ PA has nearly 16,000 miles of wild trout streams

Clean water makes the catch possible. Happy fishing! 💚

This kind of work doesn’t happen alone. 🤝🌿

The restoration of the Oysterville Creek watershed here in Berks County is only possible because of strong partnerships and a shared commitment to protecting our natural resources.

A huge thank you to everyone involved in making this project a reality:

⭐ Senator Tracy Pennycuick
⭐ Representative Maloney's Office
⭐ Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT)
⭐ Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission
⭐ Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection
⭐ Rolling Rock Stone
⭐ Pike Township
⭐ Local landowners Mr. & Mrs. Gary Weller and Mr. George Lang. 💚

Together, we’re protecting the land, water, and wildlife that make Berks County so special. 💧🐟

🥛 June is also National Dairy Month!

Here in Berks County, we are fortunate to have incredible local dairy farms that work hard every day to bring fresh, quality products to our community.

We encourage you to show them some love! 📍 Visit a local farm, pick up locally produced dairy, and keep those dollars right here at home.

💚 We want to hear from YOU:

What's one small change you've made for the planet this year?

Maybe you started composting, switched to a reusable water bottle, or cut back on meat. Every action counts, no matter how small. Drop it in the comments below 👇

🐝 Did you know June is National Pollinator Month?

Pollinators such as bees, butterflies, and birds are responsible for 75% of the world's food supply. Without them, staples like coffee, chocolate, and berries simply would not exist. 😱

The good news? Supporting pollinators can start right in your own backyard:

🌻 Grow native, pollinator-friendly plants
🚫 Avoid the use of pesticides
🐦 Set out a birdbath or birdhouse

💬 How are you helping pollinators at home? We'd love to hear, or see, what you're doing in the comments below!
