Today marks the 25th anniversary of the line-of-duty death of Sergeant Joseph Adams, who made the ultimate sacrifice while serving the citizens of Lehi on August 4, 2001.

For twenty-five years, Sergeant Adams' sacrifice has remained a lasting reminder of the courage, commitment, and selflessness required to wear the badge. His legacy continues to live on through the officers who serve this community each day and through a department that remains committed to honoring those who came before us.

We remember Sergeant Adams for the life he lived, the service he gave, and the oath he faithfully upheld. His sacrifice will never be forgotten, and his legacy continues to inspire those who wear the badge today.

After 20 years of dedicated service to the Lehi Police Department, we proudly recognize Sgt. Layne Larsen as he begins his well-earned retirement.
Throughout his career, Sgt. Larsen has left a lasting impact on both the Lehi Police Department and the community he faithfully served. He exemplified professionalism, integrity, and above all service to community. His career has taken him through nearly every facet of the department, providing him with a unique perspective and allowing him to make meaningful contributions in every assignment.
Thank you, Sgt. Layne Larsen, for your 20 years of faithful service, your leadership, and your unwavering commitment to our community. We wish you and your family every happiness and success in retirement.

After reviewing current fire conditions, Lehi City has determined that the fireworks ban will remain in effect through the Pioneer Day holiday, including July 26.

Protecting life and property remains the Lehi Fire Department's highest priority, and Lehi City shares that commitment. While fireworks are an important Pioneer Day tradition for many families, current fire conditions continue to present an elevated fire risk. Continuing the ban is a proactive measure to help protect our community.

If you have already purchased fireworks, the State recommends storing them safely until they can be used legally. Recommended storage practices include:
• Keep fireworks in their original, unopened packaging.
• Store fireworks in a cool, dry location protected from moisture and excessive heat.
• Keep fireworks away from furnaces, water heaters, open flames, pilot lights, and other ignition sources.
• Store fireworks separately from gasoline, propane cylinders, paints, solvents, and other flammable or combustible materials.
• Prevent access by children and unauthorized persons.
• Do not alter, dismantle, or combine fireworks.
• Inspect packages for damage before use.

Residents are encouraged to celebrate safely by enjoying community fireworks displays and local events. For the first time, Utah County will host a fireworks show over Utah Lake on Friday, July 24, at 10:00 p.m.

The celebration continues in Lehi on Saturday, July 25, at the Lehi Splash Party at Family Park (1999 N 600 E). Enjoy the splash pad, grab dinner from local food trucks, listen to Late Night Thoughts perform live from 6:00–9:30 p.m., and stay for a fireworks show to end the night.

Please call 911 only if there is an active fire, immediate danger to life or property, or another emergency requiring an immediate response.

Thank you for your understanding and for helping protect our community during this period of heightened wildfire risk.

Names have been withheld from this post as these cases are extremely sensitive and may evoke more emotions than many other cases. This case remains active, even though an arrest has been made and we do not want to jeopardize any further investigation that may occur. Secondly, in some of these SVU/ICAC cases we must withhold names prior to formal charges to uphold the rights of all involved.

Once a suspect is formally charged in court, their name usually becomes part of the public record. An individual in this case has been arrested and their case(s) are currently being reviewed for formal charges.

One of our SVU/ICAC Investigators went on a social media application, posing as a minor female. Last month, our Investigator was contacted by a 32-year-old male who resides in Ivins, Utah.

The individual exchanged messages with the Investigator for several weeks, stating that they would like to engage in s*xual acts with the minor. The individual was initially told and repeatedly reminded that they were chatting with a minor. The individual was given multiple opportunities to disengage from the conversation that had initiated and continued. The individual sought out opportunities to physically meet up with what he believed to be a minor and engage in s*xual activity.

The individual sent explicit pictures and videos and requested the same from the minor. The individual told the Investigator that he was employed as an educator in the St. George area. Through further investigation into the individual, it was learned that they were actively communicating with 2 other ICAC Investigators from separate agencies in the Salt Lake Valley. These Investigators were also posing as minors and chats with the individual were also s*xual in nature.

There were several failed attempts in the past to arrange for a meeting. On 07/08/2026 because of the individual's employment as an educator, and their possible access to children, ICAC Investigators from Lehi and West Jordan went to Washington County where they were assisted by the Washington County Sheriff's Office and took the individual into custody. They were transported back to Utah County and booked into the Utah County Jail on the following charges:
Aggravated Sexual Exploitation of a Minor
Dealing in Harmful Material to a Minor
Enticement of a Minor

This case will be handled by the Utah Attorney General's Office with additional charges being referred by the West Jordan as well as the South Jordan Police Departments.

Please talk to your own minor/children about online safety, as the threat to minors/children on various social media applications including, but certainly not limited to, SnapChat, Instagram, Kik, Facebook, etc..., is very real. If this chat conversation wasn't with our Investigator, it would have been with a real minor/child and real harm would have been done. Minors/Children are being solicited and trafficked for s*x every day, in every community across this State, Country, and Globe. You can help by making sure that your own loved ones are aware and educated on the dangers of online predators.

It is with deep sorrow that we share the passing of Sergeant Robert Marshall after a valiant battle with cancer. Sergeant Marshall served as a law enforcement officer in Utah for over 35 years, having previously worked at the University of Utah and Ephraim City Police before coming to the Lehi City Police Department. He loved being an officer and he loved the people of Lehi but most of all he loved the men and women he served with.

He served with pride and had no biases. Sergeant Marshall will be laid to rest with honors on Saturday, July 11th.

Rest in peace Sergeant Marshall, we’ve got the watch, you will not be forgotten 💙

The Lehi Round Up Rodeo has far more people that would like to attend than the arena has seats, making it a prime opportunity for scammers of all skill levels to step in and scam people.

If you are looking on social media sites for tickets, please be careful. We have been made aware of several scams, the latest being one on Facebook Marketplace.
