Today's Throwback Thursday takes us back to an earlier chapter in the history of the Lehigh Acres Fire Control & Rescue District!

We believe this photo was taken sometime in the mid-1980s, but we're putting our retirees, current members, and longtime community supporters to the test!

🔥 A Special Visit During Fire Prevention Week! 🔥

Yesterday, the Lehigh Acres Fire Control and Rescue District had the honor of welcoming U.S. Senator Ashley Moody to our organization during National Fire Prevention Week.

Senator Moody joined us to highlight the importance of fire prevention, fire safety, and ensuring that Florida’s fire departments have the resources needed to protect their communities.

During her visit, Senator Moody also announced more than $44 million in federal fire service grant funding across Florida, including a $4.2 million FEMA SAFER Grant awarded to the Lehigh Acres Fire Control and Rescue District.

This grant will allow our District to hire 21 additional firefighters, strengthening our ability to serve the growing Lehigh Acres community and providing the staffing needed to support our new Station 108 when it becomes operational.

For us, this funding is about much more than a dollar amount.

It is about people.

It means having additional firefighters, EMTs, and paramedics available when someone in our community calls 911.

It means strengthening our response capabilities.

And it means being better prepared to help not only the citizens we serve, but our neighboring communities when they need us.

We sincerely appreciate Senator Moody taking the time to visit with our firefighters and staff and to recognize the important work being done by fire departments across Florida.

Thank you, Senator Moody, for recognizing the importance of the fire service and for highlighting the impact this funding will have on our community.

During National Fire Prevention Week, we are reminded that fire safety begins long before the 911 call.

Prevent fire's. Protect your family. And know your escape plan.

🎀 Breast Cancer Awareness Month 🎀

Breast cancer is one of the most common cancers among women in the United States, but it can affect men as well.

Female firefighters may face additional risks due to occupational exposures encountered throughout their careers. 🚒

This Breast Cancer Awareness Month, we encourage everyone to stay informed, take preventive action, and prioritize recommended screenings. Early detection can make a difference. 💗

Together, we can help raise awareness and support those affected by breast cancer.
