School Board Chair Armor Persons is highlighting a major milestone for the School District of Lee County: a leap from four D-rated schools to zero, driven by a deliberate strategy of directing extra resources and support where they're needed most.

A few of the key initiatives behind this progress:

๐Ÿ“Š Data-Driven Support โ€“ Florida's three annual Progress Monitoring assessments (PM1, PM2, PM3) track student growth throughout the year, allowing schools to catch learning gaps early and adjust instruction in real time.

๐ŸšŒ Restoring Instructional Time โ€“ Improved on-time bus arrivals have recovered learning hours students used to miss.

โฐ Expanding the School Day โ€“ An added 15 minutes of daily instruction means Lee County is no longer the region's district with the fewest learning hours.

๐ŸŽ Attracting Top Talent โ€“ Incentive pay for educators teaching in the district's most challenging schools is helping recruit and retain high-quality teachers where they're needed most.

According to Armor Persons, these efforts have combined to push the district to its highest academic performance in a decade, with the ultimate goal of becoming an A-rated school district where every student has the opportunity to thrive.

Lehigh Acres is in The Wall Street Journal!

Economics reporter for The Wall Street Journal based in Miami, A***n Campo-Flores, wrote a fantastic article about Lehigh Acres called "This Boomtown Is a Magnet for Floridaโ€™s Priced-Out Home Buyers".

The article looks at how Lehigh Acres has become one of the last true havens for middle-class home buyers in Florida, as rising costs push workers out of Miami and Orlando.

It digs into just how much opportunity there is right now, from new construction homes starting well under $300,000 to a major surge in new building permits. It also points to hundreds of millions of dollars in county investment going toward roads, utilities, and infrastructure to keep pace with the growth.

Plus, new healthcare providers are setting up locally so residents have more options close to home, and new commercial development is bringing more shops and restaurants to the area.
