We need to reelect President Obama to help this country become even greater. During his presidency, Barack Obama has saved the American economy from slipping into a second Great Depression, did not take away any guns, and made America safer by eliminating Osama bin Laden and severely weakening the Taliban. Born in Hawaii in 1961, Barack Obama is a proud American citizen and patriot. After graduati
ng from Columbia University, he moved to Chicago where he worked as a community organizer who brought hope to those in despair. Obama then attended Harvard Law School where he was the first African American to serve as President of the Harvard Law Review. Obama subsequently moved back to Chicago where he worked as a lawyer. It was during that time that he met Michelle Robinson. The two were married in 1992 and are the proud parents of Malia and Sasha Obama. In 1996, Obama was elected to the Illinois State Senate and served until 2004, when he was elected to the United States Senate. At the 2004 Democratic Convention, Obama gave an inspiration and rousing speech that gave hope and energy to many. Senator Obama decided to run for president in 2008 because of the poor state of the union. America was unsafe as the economy was failing, the war on terrorism was failing, and the ethics of government were failing. He won a decisive victory on November 4, 2008 over Senator John McCain. Barack Obama was inaugurated as the 44th President of the United States on January 20, 2009, in Washington, DC. He was surrounded by a crowd of over 1 million people. Soon after his ascent to the presidency, Obama began working diligently to save the American economy. His efforts have saved the economy from slipping into a second Great Depression. In his 3 and 3/4 years as president, Obama has created more private sector jobs than George W. Bush did during his entire presidency. Additionally, President Obama has also made our lives easier in a number of other ways. The Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act has granted healthcare to every American without a government takeover. The law, affectionately known as Obamacare (because Obama cares), brings justice to the unruly healthcare insurance industry and has reigned in many unfair practices, like ending discrimination because of a pre-existing condition and allowing young people to remain on their parent's health care plan until they are 26. President Obama has never taken away a single gun and does not plan to do so. However, the president has taken away guns from terrorists abroad by nearly eliminating al Qaeda and killing Osama bin Laden. The War in Iraq has been drawn to a close with the War in Afghanistan nearly coming to a close. America is certainly better off than it was four years ago because of the work that President Obama and the Democrats have done for us. However, we need to reelect the president as he needs eight years to clean up the mess that George W. Change cannot be conjured over night, but with two terms, it can.
