The Carbon County Housing Authority (CCHA) is seeking landlords to partner with for the implementation of Carbon County's Housing Choice Voucher (HCV) program.
The HCV program provides assistance to income qualifying families to afford decent, safe, and sanitary housing. Housing options include single-family homes, townhouses and apartments, and is not limited to units located in subsidized housing projects. A family that is issued a voucher is responsible for finding a suitable housing unit of the family's choice where the owner agrees to rent under the program. A housing subsidy is paid to the landlord directly by CCHA on behalf of the participating family. The family then pays the difference between the actual rent charged by the landlord and the amount subsidized by the program.
CCHA is currently issued 432 HCVs to be utilized in Carbon County. Of these vouchers, 396 are leased up, leaving 36 vouchers available, a portion of which are currently already assigned to individuals actively searching for housing.
Potential Landlords should consider the various benefits provided by partnering with CCHA to assist with the occupancy of their rental properties. This includes the benefit of having a team of housing professionals who provide various services including applicant review, tenant case management including occupancy and income maintenance, and physical inspections of units to review for health and safety standards.
CCHA takes a human service stance in managing its programs, which, according to Housing industry trends, often translates into successful resident and landlord relations.
