Beginning on Monday, April 6, 2026 fire hydrants will be flushed in the service area of the Lehighton Water Authority—in Lehighton, Weissport and portions of Mahoning and Franklin Townships. Flushing will be done beginning at 8:00 A.M. and continue until around 3:00 P.M. each day until all hydrants are flushed.

Water may be discolored for a short time. This discoloration is not harmful. It is suggested that at this time, you set aside water at night for drinking the next day.

Hydrant flushing is part of our normal operations, to keep the system clean for use by our customers.

North 4th Street is currently CLOSED from Ochre to the dead end until further notice while we repair a water main break. Thanks for your patience

We are currently experiencing a high water loss event somewhere within our distribution system, so we have reason to believe there is a significant leak somewhere, but after our crews have undergone very extensive leak detection measures, we have yet to find a promising lead.

We need to get this issue resolved as soon as possible to maintain a safe drinking water supply and fire protection for our customers, so we are respectfully requesting some assistance.

If you should notice any of the following, please contact the Lehighton Water Authority at (610) 377-1912 so we can investigate your concern. If after hours, please contact the Carbon County 911 Center at (570) 325-9111 and they will contact our on call staff.

-Lower than normal water pressure
-Cloudy or discolored water
-Unusually melted snow in your yard
-Noises, hissing, or vibrating on your home’s water service line (where it enters your home)
-Homes that you own/loved one’s homes that are vacant

Please clear your meters! ⛄️

Our meter-readers kindly ask that residents clear their electric/water meters of snow and provide a clear path for them to collect your readings.

If our staff is unable to read your meters, you risk costly bill adjustments on future readings!

It has been brought to our attention by the Franklin Township Police Department, that an individual(s) in a Black GMC Acadia SUV are posting the pictured door tags in Franklin Township and possibly other areas of our distribution system.

DO NOT LET THESE INDIVIDUALS IN YOUR HOME! They are NOT Lehighton Water Authority employees, nor are they contracted by the Authority.
If suspicious activity were to occur, please report it by calling 911.

PLEASE NOTE! There is NO RISK to your drinking water like the door tags states! We are well within compliance with the PA DEP and take great pride in delivering the best quality water to your homes!

If you require assistance from the Lehighton Water Authority after hours, please use the non emergency line at the 911 Center at (570) 325-9111 and they will relay the information to us.

UPDATE: IRON STREET OPEN AS OF 3:30 PM

🚨PLEASE TAKE NOTE!🚨

Our crew is currently working to repair a water main break on IRON STREET.

Iron Street will be CLOSED TO ALL TRAFFIC between South 5th Street and South 6th Street until further notice.

Carbon County Children and Youth (525 Iron St) can still be accessed but please enter and exit from the South 6th Street entrance. Thank you!
