As of Friday, January 7, 2022 the Leipsic Local School District has a total of 39 students quarantined due to the COVID-19 virus. Eleven of those students are COVID-positive. Without any new cases over the weekend, the number of quarantined students on Monday, January 10, 2022 will be reduced to 25 with 8 students being positive for the COVID-19 virus. Presently, our administrative team is advising that all students and staff members wear a face covering/mask until we see an extended decrease in positive cases. The administrative team will continue to monitor the case numbers on a daily basis. If there is a significant increase in the amount of positive cases, then a face covering/mask mandate may need to be issued by the administrative team. - Greg Williamson, LLSD Superintendent

Mrs. Brandeberry and Mrs. Richard's 4th grade classes just finished their triorama (3D pyramid) project over the 6 Native American tribes in Ohio.

The students had to meet certain criteria for their triorama that represented their assigned tribe.

They had to include:
ceremonies and traditions,
food and clothing,
shelter and transportation,
and family roles for their assigned tribe.

Well done students! Way to take the information you gathered and create a pyramid triorama to share the information with others.

Students in Mrs. Seifker's FCS Interior Design class spent the last several weeks studying different housing styles. Recently they put their knowledge to the test. They were instructed to create a gingerbread house based on one of those housing styles.

Nice job students! You exceeded your teacher's expectations and the staff was wowed by your creativity.

Ms. Marissa's Corner--
The Viking Character theme this month was to "be kind". To be kind means to be friendly, generous, and considerate. To be kind this school year, students are going to learn topics that fall under the SEL of social-awareness and self-management. Topics such as empathy, how to be a good friend, and mindfulness.
Students listened to "How the Grinch Stole Christmas" as they colored ornaments for Mrs. Marissa's kindness tree. On each ornament, students wrote down one act of kindness.

The Viking Characters for December are: Milly Valasquez, Lilianna Paniagua, Serenity Hernandez, Hudson Castillo, Cristian Hernandez, Arilyn Niese, Khloe Luna, Ryleigh Husk, Kasen Schroeder, Mario Carrillo, Hadley Niese, Aiden Hermiller, Lyndi Maas, Lillian Meloney, Kya Brandt, & Jose Soto.

Congrats Viking Characters!!

Mrs. Rigel's class had a super "sweet" day. The elementary held an early morning Christmas sing-a-long in the Auditeria. Elf Ella brought them warm cinnamon rolls fresh from the oven. And their Chris-Mouse story/puppet added to their list of fun.

Have a Merry Christmas!!!!

Over five years ago, the Leipsic community was blessed with The Leipsic Community Center. At the time, the committee that envisioned the center had no idea how much of a blessing the center would be not only for our community but for neighboring communities as well.

TLCC offers a place for people of all ages to gather together and serve one another. What a gift to our community!!!

Over the last several years, the ladies from TLCC have made it a mission to provide books to school children throughout the PC (Putnam County). From the time the artwork shows up on the windows of TLCC to the moment the children rip open their books.......the excitement of the season is present.

Thank you to TLCC and its elves for their dedication to our community and its well being....physical, mental and educational. You are a godsent to this community!!!

Stay tuned.....we will continue to post pictures of the children receiving their books.

The 2nd graders made their annual pinata this year to use for their Christmas party. You may remember the design (we shared it a couple weeks ago). Today the students help their party and got a swing at their pinata.

HOWEVER.....the pinata was a bit too tough for the students this year. No one could break open the pinata.

Soooooooooooo........the teachers took a whack at it

Stay tuned.......

The kids in Mrs. Newell's 3rd Grade had two fun filled days of "Grinchmas". The kids were welcome to wear Grinch clothes, PJs, and accessories. In class they had a video read-aloud of "How the Grinch Stole Christmas" read to them by the Grinch, himself! Other events included enjoying green Grinch juice and popcorn during the Grinch movie, Christmas song drumming on desks, Grinch Jeopardy and other activities, ... and of course the main focus for the kids to take away from this fun two day event was to show acts of kindness at school and at home, ...not only for these two short days, but every day!
