We grieve with Officer Fentress and his law enforcement family. This is a tragedy for a K9 and his handler. Zeus made an impact in our county and for our agency before transferring to Elizabethtown with Officer Fentress and we are thankful for his service.

It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of one of our beloved K-9s, K-9 Zeus, who tragically died during training last week.

K-9s are more than working partners, they are members of their handlers family. Each K-9 lives at home with their handler, and the bond formed between a handler, their family, and their K-9 is unlike any other.

Out of respect for the handler and his family, we ask for privacy and understanding during this incredibly difficult time. We appreciate the prayers, support, and compassion shown to our agency and to those most affected by this loss.

Our prayers are with the family of Deputy Coyle from Crittenden County. We all know the danger that is possible each day an officer puts on the uniform. It will never be easy to hear and will never be acceptable to lose an officer in the line of duty. We pray the family is comforted and knows how much his service means to the commonwealth.

Please continue to keep the Coyle family in your prayers for the days to come

There will be much said and thought of in the coming days as Leitchfield mourns the loss of former mayor William "Turkey" Thomason. To many he was mayor, boss, insurance agent, collector, landlord, but to everyone who knew him he was a friend. Turkey spent his life giving his time and effort to others whether it be in business, government, or his contributions to youth sports. Under Mayor Thomasons leadership and mentorship have come many great leaders in our local community and beyond. As the stories are told we are reminded what it means to lead a life of influence. Our thoughts and prayers go out to his family that they are comforted in this time of loss.
