Sharing in our area for travelers:

Health officials have identified potential measles exposures in Richmond and Olive Hill, Kentucky. An unvaccinated, out-of-state traveler visited several establishments in these communities on August 24, August 27, and August 28, 2026.
Measles is a highly contagious respiratory virus that can cause serious health complications, especially in young children. Vaccination is the best protection against measles. Immunization against measles comes through the measles, mumps and rubella (MMR) vaccine.

If you believe you may have been exposed to measles:
-Check your immunity: Verify if you have received the MMR vaccine or have medical proof of immunity.

-Monitor yourself for symptoms: watch for high fever, cough, runny nose, red, watery eyes, and a rash for 21 days following the exposure.

-Contact your health care provider: Call your doctor or the local health department immediately if you develop symptoms or have questions.

Angelica Magaoay, Skylar Ashley, and Macaylah Gidcumb (L-R), who completed the Community Health Worker Tier 1 training with the Trager Institute, stayed in contact after training and were excited to meet up at the KYACHW Conference this week! One of the most valuable pieces of the CHW training experience is the connections that you make with others across the state, and these three are a great example of that. We love providing the training to support CHW certification!

What a great experience at the KYACHW (Kentucky Association of Community Health Workers) Conference!

It was a wonderful opportunity to connect and learn with other Community Health Workers from across Kentucky.

As we continue piloting our new Community Health Worker program, opportunities like this are so valuable. We’re learning, growing, and gaining new tools to help us better connect with and serve the people of Grayson County.
