Leland Fire Department

Leland Fire Department "Mission-Focused, Values-Driven”

The Town of Leland Fire/Rescue Department was originally established in 1959 as a volunteer non-profit organization.
(1)

Over the years, it transitioned to a combination department. In 2017 the department became a part of the Town of Leland. Today, the department consists of over 30 full-time career staff, 20 part-time positions and volunteer staff operating out of two fire stations, with a third station to be staffed in 2021. We protect and provide service to approximately 35,000 residents in the Town of Leland, th

e Town of Bellville and parts of northern Brunswick County. Our career staff works in three shifts (A, B and C) of 24 hours each with their workday starting at 7:00am and ending at 7:00am the next morning. Each shift staffs two engine companies, one truck company and an on-duty Battalion Chief. Currently the truck company also cross-staffs a heavy rescue unit containing our technical rescue equipment. We have part-time staff that helps us fill in any openings we have when full-time staff are off on leave. Our volunteer firefighters will also work in 6, 12, or 24 hours shifts to add to our on-duty staffing. Emergency services we provide:

Fire Suppression

Basic Life Support Emergency Medical Response

Hazardous Materials Operations Level Response

Technical Rescue Response, including:

High-Angle Rope Rescue

Confined Space Rescue

Water Rescue

What we do, what we believe in, and where we are going…

Our Mission is to:

Serve

Be Ready

Create Excellent Outcomes

Our Core Values are:

Dedication

Professionalism

Integrity

Our Vision:
“The Town of Leland Fire/Rescue Department is the place of choice where motivated people can be their best. We have shared values and are fulfilled by the work we do and the excellent outcomes we create. We are engaged and dedicated in service to each other and our community, who trust us to protect their safety, resources, and quality of life”.
