πŸ”” H2GO Official Response Regarding Backflow Testing

Attention Residents: H2GO would like to provide clarification regarding recent comments about backflow preventer testing for residential irrigation systems.

πŸ’§ North Carolina law establishes that, under certain conditions, residential backflow preventers must be tested at least once every three (3) years. H2GO fully complies with this statutory requirement.

πŸ’§ At the same time, H2GO encourages annual testing as a best practice to help protect the public water system. This recommendation reflects established industry standards and the fact that residential irrigation systems are generally considered high hazard for potential contamination due to exposure to fertilizers, herbicides, and other environmental factors.

πŸ’§Backflow prevention devices, including Reduced Pressure Zone (RPZ) assemblies, are critical safeguards designed to prevent contaminants from entering the drinking water system during events such as backpressure or back-siphonage. While some RPZ failures may produce visible discharge at the RPZ, not all risk conditions are detectable through casual observation, which is why periodic professional testing is important.

πŸ’§H2GO’s responsibility is to ensure the safety and reliability of the public water system for all customers. Our policies and recommendations are developed and implemented by certified professionals in accordance with state regulations and industry best practices.

We will continue to review and update our customer communications to ensure clarity and alignment with current statutory requirements. For more information or questions, please contact H2GO directly.
