Firefighters are responding to a reported structure on fire off of CR-91 and Poco Loco Road in Lemitar. Please avoid the area.

Update- Fire managers along with EMRTC staff monitored this fire until end of today. No new fire growth was observed and fire is approx 75% contained. Containment will change as the next few days pass. The fire perimeter is still a hazard area so no firefighters entered the area. No structures were threatened or lost and no injuries reported.

Fire crews are aware of the fire on top of M Mountain. Firefighters are currently not engaged due to safety concerns with potential unexploded ordinances in the fire area. Fire managers are allowing the fire to burn overnight to see if it makes it to safer areas for our first responders. Firefighters will reassess in the morning and engage if necessary. NM Tech Police and EMRTC personnel are monitoring the growth. Please do not call 911 for this fire.

Midway Station 1, was dispatched early this morning to a lightning caused fire in the Pueblitos area. Firefighters were able to keep it at a small size. Smoke may be visible today.

A little after 4:00 am this morning, Station 1, Engine 71 was dispatched to I-25 mm 153 just north of Escondida for a vehicle fire. Responding firefighters requested mutual aid from Socorro Fire Dept. to assist. Both departments arrived simultaneously and conducted an offensive attack. The fire was under control quickly. Thank you Socorro Fire Department for the help. Our partnership helps keep Socorro a safer place.
