I COPIED Doc Jake 's POST REGARDING 'ND MEASURE 5' TO SHARE VALID INFORMATION REGARDING 'SD MEASURE 21'********* ******* This is a letter to the people of North Dakota.
It’s that time again! For the third time, the people on North Dakota will have to vote on whether to legalize the recreational use of ma*****na. Isn’t it obvious that the majority of the people do not want it?
Give me ONE good reason why it should be legalized. It is not legal in the eyes of the Federal Government. Just because Minnesota, South Dakota and Montana have legalized it, doesn’t mean North Dakota has to be a lemming and follow suit. Let’s be different and be proud of it.
Ma*****na may help a small group of people, so let’s keep it as a medical indication!
Let me list some of the reasons it should not be available as a recreational drug:
1) I have a couple of articles from medical journals, suggesting it may be a factor in chromosomal damage. The implications are obvious.
2) more and more pregnant women will have access to it, putting their unborn fetus at risk! The human brain is mostly “ fatty like” tissue and THC is readily absorbed by fatty tissue. The implications again are obvious. Could maternal use of THC be a cause of the increase in autism and other behavioral disorders? Immunizations have been ruled out.
3)ma*****na is addicting and has been shown to be a “stepping stone “ toward the use of other and more dangerous drugs.
4)states that have legalizing it, have seen an increase in motor vehicle accidents and deaths due to “ stoned driving”.
5)children will be subject to accidental ingestion is users aren’t careful and leave their gummies or cookies lying around.
6) allowing it to be grown, will open the door to “farming” it on a broader scale and may result in Chinese and Mexican cartels infiltrating our great state as it has in Maine.
7) productivity in the workplace has been shown to go down and workplace accidents increase
8 ) blood level of THC cannot be measured as with alcohol
9) child neglect will increase and this will often result in broken homes as alcohol abuse has shown to occur
10) North Dakota doesn’t need another source of tax revenue with billions in th the Legacy Fund
11) we don’t need another mind altering drug in our society!Alcohol, prescription and illegal drugs are enough. Unfortunately, there are too many physicians prescribing ma*****na products for less than reasonable indications. This has to stop.
If Measure 5 passes, how hard is it going to be to get it repealed once it is in place?
Again, for those who advocate for recreational use, please show me a good reason to add this to our society. Please VOTE NO on Measure 5.
