Heads up, library friends!

The Lemmon Public Library will be closing early at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 17.

We will also be closed on Friday, June 19, in observance of Juneteenth.

Please be sure to stop in before then to stock up on books!

Our City Council/Library Board representative, Dacia Hilkemeier, recently wrote an article for SDSU Extension highlighting how lending more than books can help build stronger communities. We're excited to see the Lemmon Public Library featured!

Community libraries no longer carry just books. Guests can find all sorts of items to check out, including games, tools, and even camping and outdoor gear! These items are collectively called a Library of Things.

Unearth a Story with us all summer long!
🦴 Tuesdays at 10 am – Prehistoric Explorers
For kids ages 7 and up. Younger children are welcome too, but will need to attend with a grown up.
📖 Thursdays at 10 am – Digging Into Stories Story Time
For ages birth to 6. A grown up will need to stay with children during the program. Older kids are welcome to join in too!
🎲 Wednesdays from 10–11 am – Board Games with Miss Shane
All ages are welcome! Children under age 7 will need to attend with a grown up.
Just a reminder: children ages 7 and up are welcome in the library without a grown up, but are expected to follow library rules and behave respectfully while visiting.
Be sure to follow us on Facebook and Instagram for updates, announcements, or schedule changes. Programs run May 26th–August 6th.

Hey library friends-
Just a reminder that there will NOT be Summer Reading Programs on Tuesday and Thursday.
We will have Stem Summer with Aspen at 10am on Friday.
All ages are welcome but kids under 7 will need to have a grown up/teen with them.

🦕🦖 We ROARED into summer with our Fossil Fest Summer Reading Kick-Off Party!

Our young paleontologists had a dino-mite time making Dino Dirt Cups, creating dinosaur puppets, and enjoying prehistoric fun in the library. A talented chalk artist transformed our sidewalk walkway into a work of art!

At our first Digging Into Stories Story Time, kids crafted long-neck dinosaur bookmarks to take home. Meanwhile, our Prehistoric Explorers got creative building dino bone creations using pretzels and chocolate.

And when we were rained in, the Library Nail Salon opened for business!

Thank you to everyone who joined us as we kicked off a fun summer of reading. We can’t wait to see you at the library!

The Lemmon Public Library is excited to offer SD State Park Passes for checkout!

How does it work?
✔️ Passes may be checked out FREE of charge
✔️ Checkout period is up to 3 days
✔️ Patrons may check out a pass once per month
✔️ No renewals or consecutive checkouts are allowed

We encourage everyone who uses a pass to complete the online visitor survey after their visit. Stop by the library to learn more or check out a pass.

The Lemmon Public Library now offers mobile hot spots for checkout!
Whether you need internet access for school, work, travel or everyday use, these hot spots can help you stay connected wherever you are.
This project was made possible through grant support from AARP and South Dakota State University Extension.

The library will be closed Monday, May 25 in observance of Memorial Day.

We encourage everyone to take time to honor and remember those who served our country by attending the Memorial Day program at 10:00 am at the FJ Reeder Armory.

After the program and ceremony, come see Raven at the Legion for brunch!

We hope everyone has a safe and meaningful Memorial Day weekend.
