A huge THANK YOU to Sarah and Ofran from Chick-fil-A Willowbrook for the incredible lunch donation they provided to our team on Monday!

Their generosity and support mean so much to us. Between emergency calls, training, public education programs, and serving our community, it was such a welcome treat to enjoy a delicious meal together. Acts of kindness like this remind us how fortunate we are to be part of such a supportive community.

To make the day even more special, we had a very special visitor join us for lunch, making an already wonderful afternoon even more memorable!

🚒👏 Kudos to Hannah! 👏🚒

Last week during the car show, 5-year-old Hannah became separated from her family. Thankfully, she was near our Station 1 and knew exactly what to do and exactly who to go to for help.

Hannah came to the fire station, where FF/PM Sal Cirrincione and FF/PM Jay Hanson were able to help her contact her mom using the phone number she had memorized. Thanks to Hannah staying calm, knowing important information, and seeking out trusted helpers, she was safely reunited with her family within minutes.

A huge thank you to Hannah's mom and dad for reinforcing the importance of knowing your phone number, address, and what to do in an emergency. These simple lessons can make all the difference when a child finds themselves in an unexpected situation.

As firefighters, we regularly reinforce the importance of teaching children these basic safety skills, and Hannah showed us all how being prepared can help turn a scary situation into a successful outcome.

Most importantly, great job staying calm, Hannah! We are so proud of you and the smart decisions you made. You absolutely knocked it out of the park! ⚾💙🚒

The National Weather Service's Storm Prediction Center has placed our area under an Enhanced Risk (Level 4 of 5) for severe weather today.

Now is the time to make sure you are prepared:

✅ Have multiple ways to receive weather alerts (Wireless Emergency Alerts, weather radio, weather apps, local media)
✅ Charge your cell phones and electronic devices
✅ Know where you would take shelter if a warning is issued
✅ Secure outdoor furniture, decorations, and loose items
✅ Review your family emergency plan

Severe weather can develop quickly and may include:
🌪️ Tornadoes
💨 Damaging winds
🌧️ Heavy rainfall
🧊 Large hail

Remember:
🔴 A Watch means conditions are favorable.
🔴 A Warning means take action immediately.

Stay weather aware throughout the day and be prepared to move to a safe location if conditions worsen.

Storm Prediction Center has just elevated our severe weather risk today to a LEVEL 4 OUT OF 5. PLEASE make sure you have multiple ways to receive weather alerts thru the day.

School may be out for the summer, but safety doesn't take a vacation! ☀️🚒🏊‍♀️

We wrapped up another great year of our Adopt-A-Firefighter program with an end-of-year assembly at Oakwood Elementary, helping students get ready for a fun and safe summer.

A huge thank you to FF/PM Matt Baetz, FF/PM Sal Cirrincione, SRO Nick Rankovich, and Lifeguard Drea from the Lemont Park District for teaching our students important summer safety tips from water safety and bike safety to making smart choices all summer long.

We also want to thank DJ Jeff for keeping the energy high and the dance floor moving during our end-of-year dance party! 🎶🕺💃

And of course, a special thank you to Home Run Inn Pizza for generously donating free kids' pizza coupons for our students. Because let's be honest... who doesn't love pizza? 🍕

Thank you to everyone who helped make this year's Adopt-A-Firefighter program such a success. We hope all of our Oakwood students have a safe, fun, and memorable summer!

We were recently called to assist with a hummingbird that somehow found its way into a resident's home.

While chasing a hummingbird isn't something we encounter every day, the crew had to get creative and think outside the box to safely capture the speedy little visitor!

Thanks to the patience and teamwork of Lt. Stasiak, Lt. Stefanelli, and FF/PM Kastner, the tiny traveler was successfully captured and released back into the wild completely unharmed.

Not every call involves fire or EMS but helping our community sometimes means lending a hand to our feathered friends. Great work by the crew for ensuring this little guy's adventure had a happy ending!
