3-2-1 COUNTDOWN MARKERS

A little known function of raised pavement markers along our freeways provided by Caltrans Central Valley District 6 who strategically place these markers along the right hand shoulder to give us advance notice of exit ramps.

To help motorists locate exit ramps in heavy fog areas these markers are placed in a 3-2-1 coundown pattern.

At 2100 feet in advance of exit ramp "three" raised pavement markers will be placed on the right hand shoulder. At 1400 feet away "two" markers, and at 700 feet away a "single" marker. As you arrive at the exit ramp you will see a “break and arch” of the edge (AKA fog) line.

LEMOORE, Calif. - Naval Aviation Center for Excellence -Training (NAMCE-T) Lemoore, California held their first structured on-the-job training for 10 Sailors onboard Naval Air Station Lemoore October
