The following is the NAS Lemoore Update for 21 February:
1) For those who live in Lincoln Housing, remember, we are in our first month of mock billing. You will be receiving a mock bill next month for February's usage. We are seeing a lot of folks who live in base housing complaining about the new utility billing. They are voicing their frustration with Lincoln. This program, which is designed to reduce energy use in housing, IS NOT a Lincoln program. This is a Department of Defense wide program spanning all military branches. In fact, Navy was the last service to go to this program. Please explain to your families that Lincoln has no control or say in this program.
2) From the Public Affairs Officer:
Exercise SOLID CURTAIN-CITADEL SHIELD 2014 will be conducted at NAS Lemoore and on every Naval installation throughout the continental United States from February 24-28.
This annual exercise is designed to enhance the training and readiness of Naval Security Forces. Exercise SOLID CURTAIN-CITADEL SHIELD 2014 is not in response to any specific threat but is a regularly scheduled exercise.
Measures have been taken to minimize disruptions to normal base operations, but there may be times when the exercise causes increased traffic or delays with regards to base access. Area residents may also see increased security activity associated with the exercise.
For more information about Exercise SOLID CURTAIN-CITADEL SHIELD 2014, contact the installation public affairs officer, Melinda Larson, [email protected] or (559)998-3393.
From me: EXPECT longer lines at the gate when the force protection levels are raised, especially February 26-28. As far as I know, we will not be going to a Force Protection level that will dramatically impact base personnel or tenants; however, barriers may be put in place and additional Random Anti-Terrorism Measures will cause vehicle searches leading to some delays. Please be patient and plan ahead for travel time required. Also, we will have training evolutions which involve security using blank rounds. Signs indicating exercise in progress will be posted in those areas.
3) Pets in base housing:
Lincoln is finding dogs in base housing who are destroying base houses and causing large repair bills to the tenants. The damage is anywhere from f***s all over the floors, to walls and backyards severely damaged. In addition, Lincoln has discovered numerous houses this week with unregistered pets, barred breeds, and blatant disregard for pet policy as briefed when they accepted base housing. PLEASE tell your families to abide by the rules of base housing regarding pets. Those violating these policies will be given a short time to comply or lose their base housing privileges.
Any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to ask!
All my best,
CAPT Monty Ashliman
Commanding Officer, NAS Lemoore
