2026 National Night Out in Lena Was a Great Success!

On Tuesday, August 4, the Village of Lena Police Department hosted its annual National Night Out, a free community event for all ages, at St. Anne's Parish Church in Lena. The evening featured a variety of educational displays, demonstrations, and family-friendly activities that brought together local residents and public safety agencies.

Highlights of the event included opportunities to meet two K-9 teams from the Oconto County Sheriff's Office, along with a drone demonstration presented by the Sheriff's Office. Additional demonstrations were provided by the Lena Fire Department and Kim's Tae Kwon Do Center of Green Bay.

Community members also had the opportunity to visit displays from the Wisconsin State Patrol, Village of Lena Police Department, Oconto Falls Ambulance, Oconto Electric, and the Lena Library. Rescue vehicles were on display, allowing attendees to speak with emergency personnel and learn more about their services. Informational exhibits were also provided by Oconto County Health and Human Services, the Oconto County Sheriff's Office, HSHS St. Clare Hospital, N.E.W. Credit Union, and UW Extension.

Children and families enjoyed a wide variety of activities throughout the evening, including games, axe throwing, a dunk tank, mini golf, a football toss challenge, a coloring contest, face painting, an inflatable bounce house, and the bungee run provided by Jake's Jumpers.

The Village of Lena Police Department extends its sincere appreciation to the many businesses and volunteers who helped make the event possible. Meatski's Meats donated hot dogs, which were grilled by Tom Reindl. Dollar General donated bottled water, Shirley and Darrell Kushava provided homemade cupcakes, and Saputo Cheese donated string cheese for attendees to enjoy.

Special thanks also go to the volunteers from the Lena High School National Honor Society, the Lena High School boys baseball team, and the friends and family of the Village of Lena Police Department for their time and dedication in helping throughout the event.

The Village of Lena Police Department would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to all of the community members, organizations, and local businesses whose continued support and generous donations make this event such a tremendous success year after year.

With more than 200 people attending throughout the evening, National Night Out once again achieved its goal of strengthening relationships between the community, law enforcement, emergency responders, and county agencies while promoting crime prevention and community awareness.

Thank you to everyone who attended and to all who helped make the 2026 National Night Out a memorable and successful event.

Today we are remembering the soldiers who fought for this country and lost their lives doing so. So before you light that grill, take that bite, pop open that can or bottle, or begin to say “Happy Memorial Day” today, remember why you have this day off.

Have a great day and be safe..
