is a day to reflect on the importance of freedom and liberty for every person.

Today is , a significant reminder of liberation. On June 19, 1865, Union soldiers freed the last enslaved individuals in the United States, two years after President Lincoln issued the Emancipation Proclamation. Today, we celebrate the freedoms and liberties granted.

The Tennessee Secretary of State's office and all its divisions will be closed Friday, June 19, in observance of Juneteenth. We will resume regular hours on Monday, June 22nd.
