Today, the final bell will ring on another incredible school year at Caldwell County Schools. The last day of school is bittersweet. Sometimes there are tears mixed in with those bright summer smiles.

This year, we’ve watched our students grow so much. Not just in height, but in kindness, confidence, and character. We've seen them tackle tough lessons, lift each other up when things got hard, and discover talents no one knew they had. Every breakthrough, every shared laugh, and every moment of resilience has made us so proud to be their educators, their protectors, and their biggest cheerleaders.

As they walk out the doors today, they carry this year's victories with them.

Enjoy every single moment of this beautiful summer. Rest, play, and make wonderful memories. We are already so excited to welcome students back and witness the new heights the reach, the dreams they'll chase, and everything they will accomplish next year.

Mrs. O'Donnell’s transition into this role ensures that the school's vibrant Warrior Spirit will continue to flourish without missing a beat. Known for her unwavering support of students and staff, she works tirelessly to create an environment where students are equipped for long-term success through innovative programming and high expectations.

Leveraging her established leadership, deep roots within the school, and commitment to a culture that empowers all students to excel, she is prepared to guide West Caldwell High into its next chapter.

Valmead Elementary School is a vibrant community where student success is celebrated and individual growth is nurtured. Jennifer Decker, the newly appointed principal of Valmead, is excited to bring her diverse experience and passion for education to her new school community.

Mrs. Decker is a familiar and respected leader within the district. A celebrated North Carolina Principal Fellow, she has served as an assistant principal at multiple District elementary schools. Most recently, she balanced the unique responsibility of serving as the assistant principal for both Sawmills Elementary and Dudley Shoals Elementary, while simultaneously supporting a leadership transition at Gamewell Elementary School. Her seamless adaptability is a true testament to her dedication to Caldwell County's learners and her exceptional leadership capabilities.

Bringing a well-rounded skill set to Valmead, Mrs. Decker has also served Caldwell County Schools as an elementary classroom teacher and an English as a Second Language (ESL) teacher. Her deep understanding of diverse learning styles and classroom dynamics uniquely equips her to support every child's academic journey. She is eager to partner with Valmead’s dedicated staff, students, and families to continue building a strong foundation for future achievement.

Caldwell County Schools is committed to ensuring that every student has access to the specialized resources, support, and care they need to thrive. Dr. Ryan Cooper, the newly appointed Executive Director of Student Support Services and Exceptional Children, is ready to champion this mission at the district level.

Dr. Cooper blends his demonstrated expertise and leadership skills with a natural sense of advocacy. Through collaboration and a strategic, system-wide vision, he will oversee the critical programs that support student well-being and ensure that the district's Exceptional Children (EC) program continues to provide individualized opportunities for growth.

Dedicated to fostering inclusive environments where every child feels valued, Dr. Cooper is ideally positioned to lead these departments. He is eager to work alongside administrators, school staff, and families to strengthen the support systems that help all Caldwell County students achieve success.

Davenport A+ Elementary School is known for cultivating creativity and keeping the arts at the core of a rich, student-centered education. Savannah Wilson, the newly appointed principal of Davenport, is uniquely qualified to lead this vibrant school community.

Mrs. Wilson brings a dynamic energy and a commitment to collaborative leadership. Her educational philosophy centers on empowering teachers with the resources they need to thrive while keeping student achievement at the forefront of the school's mission. She firmly believes that every student is capable of learning when educators meet them exactly where they are and provide the tailored support necessary for growth.

Mrs. Wilson’s personal passion for the arts drives her enthusiasm for Davenport’s mission. As a lifelong musician, she is thrilled to join a faculty that integrates the arts directly into daily instruction. In addition to her musical background, Mrs. Wilson spent 13 years as a Spanish teacher before transitioning into administration.

Known as a strong communicator and systems thinker, Mrs. Wilson is deeply dedicated to building relationships and serving as an active bridge between Davenport’s families and the school community.
