Caldwell County Sheriff’s Office Strengthens Emergency Response Thanks to Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation® Grant
Grant is part of more than $107 million awarded by the Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation® to support public safety across the U.S.

Lenoir, NC (April 6, 2026) – As first responders continue serving Caldwell County, it is essential that the Caldwell County Sheriff’s Office has the tools needed to respond effectively in emergencies. The Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation® has recognized this need and recently awarded the department a $16,392 grant to purchase 5 five automated external defibrillators (AED’s) and Accessories.

The new AEDs will replace our current units that are aging out and won’t recertify. They are currently located in our jail, courthouse, and kitchen, in addition to the patrol division carrying one on the road. The new units are also compatible with the units all Caldwell County EMS carry on their ambulances, making for quicker transfers.

“We are extremely grateful to the Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation and our local Firehouse Subs® restaurant in Lenoir for this vital support,” said Lt. Douglas Dupell, Grants Administrator. “Having reliable, up-to-date equipment enhances our ability to protect lives and better serve our community.”

For more than 20 years, charitable donations have powered the Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation’s mission to support first responders and public safety organizations nationwide. Since 2005, the Foundation has awarded more than 7,200 grants totaling over $107 million to public safety organizations.

ESD K-9 Harrison and Lt. Doug Dupell visited Dudley Shoals Elementary to share Harrison's first book with students. 📚🐾

This special visit was made even more meaningful as a copy of the book was donated to the school library in memory of Isaac Lackey, a Dudley Shoals student who tragically lost his life in a car accident on April 17th.

It was a wonderful opportunity to promote reading, connect with students, and honor Isaac's memory in a lasting way. Thank you to Dudley Shoals Elementary for welcoming us and helping make this day so special.
