Happy First Day of School, Caldwell County!

As students head back to school this week, let’s all do our part to keep our children, families, and school communities safe.

🚸 Drivers: SLOW DOWN near bus pick-up and school zones, watch for crossing students, obey crossing guards and traffic signals, and put the phone away.

🚌 Around school buses: Stop when the bus has its red lights flashing and stop arm extended. Never pass a stopped school bus.

A few extra seconds of caution can make a big difference. Let’s start the school year with safety at the top of the list.

Today isn’t a special occasion or holiday — we just wanted to take a moment to say thank you.

Thank you to Chief Dillard and our department officers for your leadership, guidance, and commitment to keeping the department moving forward.

Thank you to our firefighters, both our paid staff and our volunteers, for the time, energy, training, and commitment you give to this department and this community.

Thank you to our Board for supporting the work of the department behind the scenes.

Thank you to our mutual aid departments for showing up beside us when the call requires more hands, more equipment, and teamwork across district lines.

Thank you to our Auxiliary for the support, encouragement, and care you provide throughout the year.

And thank you to our community for standing behind Yadkin Valley Volunteer Fire-Rescue Department.

Fire service is built on people helping people, and we are grateful for every person who plays a part in helping us serve the Yadkin Valley community.

If you would like to get more involved, we would love to hear from you. Whether you are interested in volunteering, supporting the Auxiliary, or simply learning more about the department, there is a place for community members to help.

New! Caldwell County Special Needs Registry

Caldwell County is launching a voluntary Special Needs Registry to help emergency responders better assist residents with special needs before, during, and after disasters. If you or a loved one could benefit, please register at https://www.caldwellcountync.org/539/Special-Needs-Registry

Please note:
- The registry is for individuals who may need extra assistance during an emergency but do not require hospital care.
- Registration does not guarantee priority or immediate assistance.
- Everyone should have a personal emergency preparedness plan.

On 7/14/2026 Yadkin Valley Fire-Rescue assisted Patterson Fire-Rescue by setting up an LZ for a multi patient trauma incident. Thank you to MedCenter Air for assisting on this incident. Since this incident involved 2 patients, a second helicopter from Highlands Emergency Air Rescue and Transport or (HEART) responded also to a different LZ location. This was a great team effort and we are always happy to support our neighboring departments.
