💙 A Huge Thank You to Plantation Pointe! 💙

For the third year in a row, the residents of Plantation Pointe in Granite Falls have stepped up to help older adults stay safe during the summer heat.

This year alone, they have already donated 20 fans to support our Operation Fan Heat Relief efforts. Through the Duke Energy-funded program, we receive a limited number of fans each year, and the generous donations from Plantation Pointe help us reach even more older adults who need assistance staying cool and safe.

Hot weather can be especially dangerous for older adults. As we age, our bodies may not adjust to heat as efficiently, and certain health conditions or medications can increase the risk of heat exhaustion and heat stroke. Access to a fan, along with proper hydration and a cool environment, can make a significant difference during the summer months.

Thank you, Plantation Pointe, for helping us protect the health and well-being of older adults throughout Caldwell County. Your generosity is making a real impact! 🌟

🥋🏆 A Champion of Health! 🏆🥋

As Older Americans Month comes to a close, we're celebrating someone who truly embodies this year's theme: Champion Your Health.

Congratulations to David, who earned the title of 2026 Grand Champion at the 48th Annual War Angel Challenge Karate Championships in Dillon, South Carolina on May 30th!

When asked about his victory, David said that he had been "training 40 years for this." Looking at that nearly five-foot-tall trophy, we'd say the hard work paid off!

David's achievement is a powerful reminder that staying active, setting goals, and pursuing what you love can lead to incredible accomplishments at any age. We are proud to have David as part of the Thrive family and to celebrate this amazing milestone with him.
